Squier Classic Vibe Fifties Precision

I managed to snag a demo from Sweetwater this summer before the price hike, just at 8lbs. I threw on a set of Cobalts and some brass saddles and am very happy.

Very comfortable and very stable. Satin finish, reasonably thick but not Fender 51 thick.

My first PB-50 will be 8 years old this October, never needed any adjusted. Should point out it's been sporting TI jazz flats the whole time. The second PB-50 came along a few months later, it wears tapes.

The Roswell pickup is good, uses the same alnico 5 poles as the Duncan QP. Cool thing is they didn't overwind the Roswell so you have mids.

The single coil P bass is a little beefier than a jazz neck pickup. I have both and have compared the two back to back. The scpb pup is also closer to the neck and is more responsive because the pole pieces are directly under the strings instead of straddling them. The end result imo is the sound of a split coil P bass with less girth but a more even frequency response across the spectrum.

I bought one of these last year and I love it. It needed a little tweak to the setup but it was as smooth as my more expensive basses (in fact I’ve had more expensive basses that were harder to set up!). The truss rod needed to be tightened and a slight saddle adjustment. Other than that, it didn’t need anything doing to it - The fretwork is perfect. You won’t have a problem setting it up.
