I really have a thing for single coil Precision’s, but I am not a P-Bass guy, so Squiers are pretty attractive for me because of their price point. I think this one is pretty with a sort of peach or beige color, and I am pretty sure it is sub 9lbs. The downside is that it needs a setup badly. One thing I have noticed is that I have a much easier time setting up expensive basses rather than many budget basses (this is not absolute, some cheaper basses I have owned were very easy to set up.) I know I would make the buzz probably worse if I worked on it. The other thing I noticed was a price increase. This model is now $429.

I could not get that riff from John Pattitucci’s “Letter to Paul Jackson,” out of my mind, so I played it.:)

That would make a nice addition to your stable .
Wilton Felder and Sting always come to my mind when is we those basses.
Sire has one of these coming out in a few months for around the same price.
I’ve been considering ordering one of the new Sire P5 for myself. Just to add a little something different to my jazz basses.

I really want to see the Sire because it will probably be nice.

How do you find that the single coil Precisions compare to using the front pickup on a Jazz bass?
I find them to be quite similar .

I want one of these, but then I want to have it refinished in fiesta red.

The Harley Benton PB-50 comes in a red close to fiesta. Here's mine after some modding.

this is prob #1 on my GAS list for a few years now...not a fan of the White blonde and they finally brought out a tobacco, but I think the white P/G on that one looks too harsh/bright (I know, picky pick picky)....hoping the Sire version is not too $$ in Canada...like the roasted neck on the Sire, with the black P/G on the tobacco burst

saving a nice tax refund and big birthday for the Sire ....maybe....getting a 4th bass is a long story

A tax refund sounds wonderful! I am still waiting on last year’s and the current one too!

Oh well, at least I can look at pretty basses!:bassist:

I have an older made in China 50s. It came with a big cast bridge and modern tuners. I changed the tuners to Fender reverse and a 70s style bridge. It is so nice that I sold my old Jazz Bass. For some odd reason, it sounds like it has an HPF set at about 100 Hz. I like the punch I get from it. Sorry about the giant photo, I don't know how to make them smaller.

Your single coil Precision is sweet and that fretless on the side is nice too.
