Squier Classic Vibe Fifties Precision

Very cool. What have you got in there ?
I put an Eric Custom T-bird humbucker in this build.
I thought there'd be wire routing under there! I didn't know you could take the pickguard off.
I was always mystified by why the Sting signature bass had a pickguard when he plays one without a pickguard these days.
Looks like Nash sells a relic'd replica but it's $2300.
Although I must say it looks really really nice without the pick guard. It’s just that then I have that and the screws lying around, and the holes in the bass, small but visible up close.
Welp- I purchased one in 2020 (new)... as with all of my FrankenFender/Squiers - I modded 
is a great bass!
I did add a bridge cover as well...
Fender American Deluxe bridge (has 3 saddle notches for string positioning) - required plugging & drilling

I really have a thing for single coil Precision’s, but I am not a P-Bass guy, so Squiers are pretty attractive for me because of their price point. I think this one is pretty with a sort of peach or beige color, and I am pretty sure it is sub 9lbs. The downside is that it needs a setup badly. One thing I have noticed is that I have a much easier time setting up expensive basses rather than many budget basses (this is not absolute, some cheaper basses I have owned were very easy to set up.) I know I would make the buzz probably worse if I worked on it. The other thing I noticed was a price increase. This model is now $429.
I could not get that riff from John Pattitucci’s “Letter to Paul Jackson,” out of my mind, so I played it.
I Canada it goes for $560.. so just with exchange your $430 US is about $535 CDN, so our store makes a few bucks too...not bad for a great bass....
Sire says the D5 will be 500 US = $625 CDN + $40-75 for the store means I hope it comes in under $700 ...that would be nice

Though not a 50’s style but a 60’s, I’ve found my forever Precision Bass in the Squier Classic Vibe series.
They make a great bass. I prefer mine to much more expensive models. It’s not my number one but when I need that Pbass thing , it brings it.

The neck is a Chinese knockoff chunky p bass neck with pearloid inlays. I purchased a lefty neck so that when I put it on it would be reversed like Dusty Hill. I got lucky because it had the side fret dot markers on both sides of the neck. The neck is beautiful and stable. The stock pickup from the Harley Benton has that single coil mid hump that fits so nice in the mix.

My build was put together using spare parts I have collected of the years; Squier Affinity body, bridge off of a Squier Protone and pickguard from Amazon. I got the T-bird humbucker from Ey Guitar Music.
