Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass (IV & V string)

I'd put a 3-way Tele switch in. :D It would require some routing, but I'm ok with that...it's under the guard anyways.

That's quite a big switch... You might as well put a 5-way Strat switch in and go to town, although single inner and single outer settings are probably going to sound the same, but you could add in a couple of capacitor options if line6man is about.

looks pretty but what does it sound like?

I guess I could wire it like this:

1. Single Inner
2. Both - Parallel
3. Both - Series
4. Single Outer
5. Both - Parallel - Pre-amp Bypass

A recent video of the Dimension IV. Anybody know when these will be coming to the US? Would love to try the 5 string.

The wood grain on that is horrendous. The left piece is clean and the middle piece has distinct vertical lines. I wish they'd put the tiniest bit more effort into doing a better job matching the body pieces. I understand it's a cheap bass and you gotta cut costs but that annoys me.

Thank you for posting this video. I'm glad to finally see a review and actually HEAR the thing. In January, Musicians Friend said they would be coming in in mid-February. I asked them 2 days ago about the availability and they said to check back in a few more weeks. So who knows. I did notice that Amazon has them listed for "prime" purchase. they are not yet in stock but the price point from Amazon is actually a little LESS than what a vintage modified model would cost. I can't wait to get my hands on one. I have my eye set on a 5 string sunburst.

I would love for someone like Ed Friedland (the “Bass Whisperer”) to review the Squier, MIC Modern Player Fender, MIM Fender, and MIA Fender versions of the Dimension Bass in a side-by-side comparison.

Ed is a really cool guy, a great player, and a true educator!

To me, the MIM Dimension is going to be hard to resist. With an ash body and Posiflex neck support rods at half the price—who needs the MIA?

BTW, are there any good videos of the Squier Dimensions you can link to?
The video quoted a few posts up from Dawson's is the only one I've found that does an in depth look complete with sound samples. I'm not crazy about those sound samples. That being said, I will make my OWN evaluation of the sound with my own equipment. If I sound like "me," then it will be a keeper.

Thanks to my wife's comments (which I don't disagree with), I'm having some second thoughts on what I ordered. I really want a Dimension bass, but I have a black+maple and a sunburst+rosewood and a red bass already. Technically I don't have a red+maple. I wish it came in blue like the American deluxe. I'm considering canceling my order and getting something else. Dang it!!!!

Nooo-o-o-o! We want to see/read your review. Just kidding. Of course, you should do what's best for you; in fact, it sounds like you are married to a wise and sensible woman.

ok ok....I've decided that I will stick with my order. I'd hate to think I could have passed up a nice bass because of color. I still think the red with the maple neck is a good look. I'm considering swapping out the pickguard for white. It's a good look. American Deluxe pictured....
