Squier Jaguar Short Scale Club Part 2

my 2 year old did the same thing to me. funny this is i think it was an SX too.
I must remember to get wall hooks for when nieces or nephews come to visit. Guess I could just do what I'm supposed to and put the instruments back in their cases, but they're much less fun like that.

Greetings, Here's my new Candy Apple Red Squier Jaguar SS bass. I 've already done a few mods to it such as a chrome Bad Ass II bridge, chrome knobs, roller string tree, filed some sharp frets and pulled off those crappy stock strings. I just ordered a Seymour Duncan SPB-2 Hot P Bass pickup, a Seymour Duncan STK-J2 Hot Stack humbucking bridge pickup, new CTS 250k pots, a Soviet military paper in oil .047uF capacitor and a set of La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass flatwound strings. I'll take a number please.

Just got the VM Squier SS Jag on Friday. Here are the problems I had out of the box.
1. The neck was NOT tightened down all the way to the bottom of the neck pocket, couple turns with the screw driver solved that.
2. While I had the driver out, I started to tighten down the bridge, 3/5 of the screws were stripped out! To solve this I took the bridge off and installed 8-32 machine thread brass inserts. I had to drill the bridge mounting holes out to 3/8 and countersink with a larger bit to eliminate the chance of cracking the finish when the insert went in.
The agathis wood used for the body is SOO soft, I had to be very careful drilling the holes to make sure they were perpendicular to the surface. If they are not, the brass inserts will pull the bridge at whatever angle they went in at, be very careful if you try this, otherwise the bridge won't lay flat against the body. The pilot holes drilled at the factory were NOT straight.
After these mods, the thing really started to sing, it sounds fantastic with the stock P, now to just get a nordy split for the J.
I think the finish on the guitar is really well done, but I'm surprised that so many people are saying that the bass was good out of the box. I had to do a slight intonation adjustment as well as adjust the saddle height. I had to adjust the pickup height and the nut was cut too tight and I couldn't keep the thing in tune. I don't know but I didn't notice the neck not seated in the pocket for about 20min of playing it, at first I thought I had been duped into buying some lumber.
For the cost this bass is AMAZING, IF you know what you are doing.

I wanted to recommend Sweetwater because I think they are currently the best online dealer on the planet. But they don't have stock on the Red.
But everyone note: the basses now have a price drop / rebate in effect until the end of the month. They're 145. I paid 170 for mine. [worth every penny]

Dogfish, if your daughter can deal with the notion that it may not arrive in time to put it under the tree, why not order one while the price is down? She has excellent taste. OK, so mine's CAR. I prefer natural, but this works fine.
Hey, at least she doesn't want some crazy toy that everyone else wants and nobody has in stock. She may never outgrow that bass.

Hey Axeman. Thanks, again. I called the store and they are out of stock, too. Anybody else know where I can find one of these in "CAR" soon. It's the only thing my daughter wants this year.
If mine wasnt a "used" condition which means its prob going to come with wear , maybe dings dents or cracks i would swap you for one in a different color, i will keep my eye out tho , there has to be some place
