There is a link in the original post to K&J. A single 3x1/2x1/8 magnet is what I used. Buy only what you need unless you like to play around with high power magnets (a fun activity). IIRC shipping was around $7 (your location may be different). I achieved the best results by placing the magnet on top of the pickup inside the plastic cover (you can listen to the sound clips and hear the difference

It's only 50mm (~2") long which would be too short according to my measurements.
That one is a little small. It might do something, but I'm not sure how effective it would be. I think you'd be better off getting something that will cover the entire surface of the pickup (while still fitting inside the cover), or at the very least the entire length of the pole pieces. Of course I could be wrong, since I have only used the one described in the thread.
If you don't live in the US, you could contact K&J to see if the ship internationally, or just look for a supplier in your area. In any case I still think you'd be happier with something closer to the mentioned 3" x 1/2" x 1/8" size (metric if my conversion is close should be about 76 x 13 x 3 mm).
If you go with something else, please post the details including before and after sound clips.

Been a crazy couple of weeks for me, but I did manage to order one of the K&J magnets. Looking forward to getting it installed. The sound clips from the other thread makes a big difference. I didn't want to change out the complete pickup, but the magnet should help it a lot.
Got the magnet from K&J, and got it installed. I had heard the sound samples and it solidified my desire to make the mod, and I've got to say it made a HUGE difference in mine. Really makes that weak, thin bridge pickup have enough punch, and body to really stand side by side of with the neck pickup. Now to just deal with the little bit of hum from it.
Glad to hear the magnet mod worked well for you. I've been using mine with the magnet mod for a little more than 6 months and I'm still extremely happy with its sound.
If you find an easy way to reduce or eliminate the jazz pickup single coil hum I'd be interested, but I'm not holding my breath. Shielding the cavity helps some but does not completely eliminate it. Seems a little hum is normal for all soloed passive single coil pickups.Did you ever settle on what new strings you plane to install?
Shielding was going to be my best guess on the hum, but I know some hum is expected.
I went with the Rotosound tapes. Good tension, enough fat and depth, but enough brightness to not make it sound choked. That with the magnet really open it up.

Hello, new here so go easy on me. After a few years playing drums, I broke down and bought a real instrument. After some research, I picked up a Jaguar SS in a beautiful silver colour, and an Ampeg bass amp. Once I figure out how to attach a photo, maybe I can get a number! Really enjoying learning to play this thing, sure I will have some questions for you all as I go along.
I've heard good things about the tapewounds, but decent sound samples seem hard to come by.
I still have the stock strings on at the moment and quite like them. But feel like they need replacing as the E is much deader than the rest. Can't decide what to try next.
I quite like the fat sound of flats but they have a kinda hollow tone as well which isn't so great. Also, rounds are more versatile - I can approximate the sound of flats by rolling the tone off. Plus I can get that zing if I need to.
I find that d'addario rounds are too bright for me. So I guess I'm looking for a nickel round that isn't crazy bright, and comes in the right scale length.
Any suggestions?
I've had mine for just over two years now. The interesting thing that I noticed was that the neck needed a lot of adjustment for the first year, then the thing seemed to lock in. I'm guessing that the wood finally stabilized.
