Squier Jaguar Short Scale Club Part 3

The regular Jag SS (3 colors) is a Vintage Modified model, and the sunburst from the pack is an Affinity model.
I'm not sure what all the differences are besides the painted head stock.

The sunburst not an affinity, even though Guitar Center and Musicians Friend have it advertised as such. Affinity series basses have alder bodies, The sunburst SS Jaguar has the lighter agathis, and is made in Indonesia like the other Vintage Modified models. I've owned a red one and the sunburst model, and I set up both of them for students. Fender did not package the sunburst as an Affinity as they do with the Precision or Jazz packs:

Squier removed it from their site. But when it was there I saw it listed under the Affinity umbrella.

It makes no difference to me. Everyone is free to believe as they wish.

Edit: I think GC and MF were the only stores that sold that pack.
It might have been an exclusive request., like they have in several other departments.
Neither store has them currently listed.

I bought mine from Sweetwater, shortly after I first saw the pack posted on the Fender/Squier website. I recall that Sam Ash sold them as well.

Also, the sunburst SS Jag does not have the little "Affinity" logo on the headstock that you'll find on those models.

Hi. I,m gonna change the stock bridge for a Gotoh 201b. Gotoh screws are thinner than stocks, but my New Bridge is Black, not Chrome, so I'd like to put the Black screws from the Gotoh one. The toothpick trick will be enough, or do I need some epoxy adhesive/filler?

I cut toothpick to length, then dip it in some "white" glue, before putting it in the hole. Fills a little space and helps hold it together, but will allow the screw to release when the time comes.

I got my answer.... It's a whole lot different. When your main basses are either 34-35" scales it feels sooooo short. I'm really loving the playability, and the tone. I think I'll probably try the bridge pickup magnet mod, but other than that I'm am very happy with it.

Whoever had this bass before me definitely loved SS rounds. The frets are a bit worn (not bad, but it's visible) and she's lived through some epic tales... But it plays even and easy with no buzzing across the entire neck.

While I'm at it, can I get some suggestions for half-rounds? (and a number?)

The only one I like apparently isn't made any more. I have LaBella Quarter Rounds for Short Scale on mine. I knew I should have bought more than 2 sets. :(

Welcome to the club! Jason at bassstringsonline is showing Invalid Link Removed. I've never tried them, so I can't give you a review, though. If you register your TB membership with BSO, you'll get an extra discount.

As far as the Jazz pickup goes, I put a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] in my sunburst SS Jag because I wanted it to be hum-canceling. I might have gone with the discontinued Fender Super 55, but it was not available at a decent price at the time. The Jag's stock P pickup sounded great already, so I only changed out the J.

If you have a bit of neck dive, I found that since the pots are so small, the control cavity has plenty of room for some stick-on lead wheel balancing weights. My red SS Jag didn't dive, but the sunburst (which only weighed in at about 6 1/2 lbs) took about 8 full ounces of weights to balance well.
