So I didn't get to gig the SS Jag last weekend. Carpooled with the drummer and could only bring one bass. Took my Sadhana.
I have a gig next week. Taking her out then for sure.
As far as mods go, I may switch out the bridge for a Gotoh 201. Did the same mod to my Gretsch.
I'll post a picture of the bass in a live setting if I get one.

So I picked up a CAR one yesterday. Total impulse buy. I have a birthday coming and figured I'd go down to the local music shop and check out the VM and CV basses they had. Figured I'd have to talk myself into a $280 VM Mustang or maybe the 75 Jazz but was really looking for a shorty. Picked up the Jag and liked the feel. Looked at the price ($170
) and it was all over. SOLD! SX had a lock on the cheap bass market but with the headstock change and Squier putting out basses like this I ain't so sure anymore. Big bang for the buck and cool color scheme. Like how the headstock matches the pickgaurd. Gives the bass a Nice "flow".

I was always an advocate of SX's as great low end deals, and I still believe that, but - this Jag at this price point really pulled way ahead of those SX's. I fully expect this Jags to be discontinued or priced much higher in the future. It's Such a value, I'm betting it is actually a Marketing *Test* by Fender.
Agreed. I think the SXs were a great value, but now for a few bucks more the Squires blow them out of the water. There were always little things that niggled me on the SXs such as the cheap quality of the fretwire which would require more maintenance throughout the life of the bass. Squire probably uses the standard stuff found on many Fender basses so its not a concern. Little things like that really make the Squire a better investment.
I just sold my Squier Jaguar SS, so I need to turn in Club Member #26, unless you want me to transfer it to the new owner who is also TB member.

just ordered mine (candy apple red) from musicians friend. $15 off for labor day. bought it sight unseen, just looks too good to pass up.
oh yeah, read a very detailed review online today, overall it was a great review. it did mention that the jazz pickup was much less powerful than the p-bass pickup. said the p-bass pickup was a keeper & the jazz should be replaced. anyone else agree with this or was the review bass an oddball?
