Ahhh! Thanks for the number my friend. That picture is of my sweetest boy Pug that we lost through illness about a month ago, still pains me deeply. He was a rescue Pug and gave much more than us to him.
That is indeed a sweet ass popcorn maker. I got it because we love good popcorn and microwave popcorn (smell mostly) began making my insides churn. I recently picked up a realy good quality maker and a little bigger to boot - glad you like it - delicious!!!

I can't find ANY flaws at all in the new Jag and frankly I am so tickled with it I am thinking about ordering another one in red.

Well, now that folks have had some time with their new Jags may I ask the question: Is there a general higher opinion of which strings would be a good/great choice (flatwounds please) to install on our great little Short Scale basses?
I know a few string names have been batted about but not really any reports after some time spent with them.
I know I did just get my bass on Weds.and I do like the sound, however, I am looking over the small listing of strings fot the SS and with recommendations maybe I would hit the jackpot on 1st purchase.

Looks like somebody's gonna get butter and salt all over his bass... ;-) Seriously, though... now I have popcorn envy and Invalid Link Removed evny (it's not available where I live).

My son has the silver one like yours, but I played a red one today at Elderly Instruments (still my favorite store on planet Earth). The red is really gorgeous. I'm playing Owen's bass so much that I think I should probably get my own--the red would be nice.

I also had a thought: if we got a second one of these, I might mod mine to be a short scale jazz--just replace the P and install a set of jazz bass pickups. If anyone does this, please post here. I'll bet that would be a sweet setup, too!

The Silver Jag is tasty but, not with butter methinks. I moved it right along.
Well sir, you have my envy as well since I would love to be able to stroll into Elderly's whenever I like-never been there but always wanted to.

I have only seen the red Jag on the web but it does look
gorgeous to me too. I may do it.
Wouldn't you have to do some routing on the guitar to install a jazz where the P pickup is? Scarey thought to someone like me.

Me, too. I worked at Elderly for a few years during college and grad school, and I am just utterly devoted to that place. I don't get to Lansing often these days, but I had a meeting there and had to stop by to see old pals and just soak it up. I'm sure everyone has their favorite, but there are only a couple of places in the world like Elderly. Many of the people I worked with back in the day (including Stan, the owner) are still there after all these years. Just a fantastic business.

Oh, and you're correct: to make this bass into a J would require routing, wiring, and a new pick guard. Once upon a time that was way out of my comfort zone, too... but it's not rocket science, and it's only a $170 bass, so what the heck? Might be cool to get a 3rd and modify it to be like a Music Man. That would be a pretty impressive array of basses to have at your disposal!!!!

Mine immediately acquired a set of my go-to strings, Labella Deep Talkin' flats, 769FL-S, in light gauge, .043 - .104. Classic strings, and a big favorite for many TB members. They sound great!

Thats some pretty exciting stuff you hope/plan/may do and I agree it is a great priced guitar to make mods on. I hope you will share if you start up on the project.
I would like to see Stan have a 360 deg. video made of the inside of the store - you know the way Realtors do with the homes they sell. I know I would sure watch it with green eyes. I did in fact buy a Martin D41 from them in 1999 to celebrate giving up my second job. A lot of money site unseen (phone com as well) but the guitar came as ordered and I have never regretted it. Love it actually.

Thanks for the string recommendation Pilgrim, I didn't really want to spend that much on strings but I have decided that it is exactly what I am going to do. I will be visiting juststrings early this afternoon to get the order in.
Thanks for the advice, I did see those strings pop up a few times on the pages for SS Jag.
