I wanted to get a fretless neck for awhile , someone wanted my neck and offered a great price so i sold it without looking into short scale fretless necks , well now i have and the market is really limited and nothing is that cheap.

Now I am left wishing i would have just defretted it.

Regrets, oh well i will be getting another jag when there is a sale somewhere.

i haven't wired it up yet but when i do i can make sound clips. the pic just has the new neck pickup in there. i'll be putting in the new bridge pickup later too. they are the old pickups from a fender '75 reissue. i spent all day just about making the pickguard. i think i'd get one made at greasygroove or something if i did it again. i messed up the join to the control plate so there is a little gap.

Actually, so low they'll just about rest on the fret board. In fact I have mine adjusted nearly as high as they'll go on the A & D strings to get rid of any buzzing and had to add a little more relief in the neck. Even so, the action is great for me, but if someone wanted a higher action for some reason, this might not be the bridge for them on this bass. Below is a link to their installation video.

I think that's the only serious problem with these basses, it's so easy to "over improve" them from a cost standpoint since they are sooo [DEL]cheap[/DEL] inexpensive. I've already put more into the bass than it costs and all I did was replace the bridge and the electronics. If I were going to go fretless with this axe, I'd just get a second one and replace the fretboard myself. Then I could go with a 7.5 or so radius.

since i have so many basses, and my wife has taken an interest in playing bass lately ( btw she likes the Jag bass's body styling the best) i bought her a brand new silver SS jag about a month ago, for $143 shipped.
when it arrived, it was set up okay out of the box. the nut was a little high and it needed a neck adjustment (had a slight front bow), which was all to be expected, so no complaints at all there, but the bridge pickup didn't work at all. i popped the control plate and found that the j bass pickup's hot wire wasn't connected, so 1 minute later, after soldering it, i plugged it in. i'm actually very impressed with it's overall tone and feel, and the fit and finish are excellent, especially for an instrument in this price range.

she wants a parchment pickguard for it, so i'm going to make one for her later this week.
