Squier Mikey Way Signature Mustang

I played this on Saturday at Stars Music in Paris. I thought it actually sounded and played quite nice. It reminds me allot of the other basses in the more recent Squier VM series. Good construction, solid fit and finish and a decent tone at a good price. The sparkle was not on the same level of a Gretsch but I guess you cant have everything for $280. I did not have the time but it would have been nice to A/B it with a P Bass to hear the difference in output/tone. But certainly, I give the one I played a thumbs up for the small price.

That being said, I still like the fit and finish of the MIJ mustangs a bit more.

Decisions....

Anyone got their hands on one of these yet.

Eldest daughter has started following in the footsteps and is enjoying it. So might get her her own.

was thinking of one of these, but she likes my Mike dirntover the rest so might go for a Squier CV dunno yet.

Be interested to see what people who have tried the Mike Way think of it.

Johnston, see my post above. Dirnt bass is probably a little better quality than the Mikey Way Mustang but it has a chunky neck. The Mustangs will probably feel much better to someone with smaller hands. You may also want to look into the MIJ reissues as they are quite nice and maybe equal or of better quality than the Dirnt. Of course, this is in my opinion.

i was an MCR fan before they went all disco and weird (which prompted the making of this bass). their rhythm guitarist got his own gibson or epi sig after that record as well. his was a wilshire. apparently they are all about the weird guitars right now. lead guitarist is likely still using LP's. i did like his tone with the P quite a bit. especially on things like "give em hell kid".

i digress.

not particularly interested in the bass itself. short scale, 4 strings, sparkley.. meh. matching headstock is a nice touch.

ive met the guy. nice dude. little noodles for arms. thought i was going to shake his hand right off his wrist. glad to see he's doing well. he was out of the band for a bit with some health problems and then took another break to get married.

hopefully the next MCR curveball will be an aggressive one. i miss 3 cheers.

Hahaha, I don't even really know their music at all. I am sure there are a few songs where I will probably say, "Oh, I know that tune"........ So I guess it is time to take a gander on the ol' you tube.

For me, I just like the Mustang Bass, even with some of it's shortcomings. (No pun intended)

Just placed order with MF ($255 after 15% coupon) May have to wait a bit to get it. MF says they get their supply 3/1/12, then shipping to me. Will let y'all know about bass when it comes.

Was going to buy another SS Jag, but that seemed a bit redundant. Interested in seeing how the humbucker sounds.

I liked the MW bass allot and will probably order it as well this week. Please let me know what you thoughts are after you get it. I have not been able to try the Jag yet and it is the one bass that is keeping me from pulling the trigger at this point.

MF pushed back the date they are getting these. I spoke to customer service and almost changed my order to a VM Mustang. They ended up giving me better shipping for same price. Let me know what you think Johnnycat, if you get yours first...
