All I can think about Is a mess when I picture that in my head... And I also eat nothing with chew nougat or caramel!

I have never listened to My Chemical Romance, but I got a couple of funny looks slappin one of these basses in a Sam Ash. Some kid told me "that's not how you play that thing" and explained what I was doing wrong. I promptly told him I didn't care what he "thought" I was doing wrong, I can play anything the was I want. He called me a dirty old man for trying to pick up teenagers, I called him select names and I took that dam bass to counter to buy it, his mom was in the process of getting it for him along with lessons....

Needless to say, it sounded good, it looks great, and its compact enough to throw in the truck without hurting it. I'll get one. I just hope no one else is.around to see me, I don't want to be looked at like a dirty old man trying to pick up teenagers with it... Stupid punk

MF says my bass has been shipped (supposedly Saturday), but tracking number is not showing anything yet. They always take a long time to put anything in there. Am hoping to get it this week.

I have heard of My Chemical Romance, but don't know if I've ever listened to their tunes. Guess I'm too damn old.

Went in today and had a wee play.

Not plugged in. Was quite surprised, Seemed well built very solid. More weight than I was expecting too.

Well... I got my Mikey Way today. Very nice.... I pried it outta the cardboard and started playing, fairly nice outta the box. Lowered the action at the bridge (the intonation was decent, but I couldn't dial it in more cuz I had band rehearsal across town).


Set action low like I wanted and headed to practice. Bandmates were blown away by the look. It helps that we play surf and rockabilly. Guitar player/female (also a great bassist) loved it. Our drummer (also a great guitarist) played it and was impressed.

Playing that humbucker was great, the tone knob gave me everything from a burp to a growl to a drone. Nice job Squier.

Better fret job than my Squier Jag SS. But I'm gonna file away on both. Kinda heavy though... hard to believe that's basswood. Gonna weigh both in the next few days.

I played one of these the other day. I dig the finish but it felt like a toy not a bass. Guess I'm not a ss guy. I'd like to see a big boy bass in this color with 2 of those humbuckers.

Sorry to say but I am going to take mine back this weekend. It is a really cool bass for the price but I just scored the MIJ reissue for a great price and it is too hard to pass up.

This bass is much like the other Squiers that are being produced right now. A really great bang for the buck short scale! However, compared to it's Fender bigger brother, I find this one a bit more clunky. It is quite a bit heavier and I just like the feel of the neck a bit better on the MIJ versions. But for under $300, it is a pretty darn nice bass. When it comes to the Squier basses, I think I just found that I prefer the upgrades that you find in the classic vibe range. They feel more like what I am used to, I guess.

just purchased one myself. bought it new from ebay, and it came with a gig bag. i love the sparkle...one of the first electrics i looked at had it.

will post back with some pics and details on sound.

I like the tone--punchy and smooth. It is different from my norm, as I usually play on an active bass, so I scooped some of the mids out on my amp's eq. My main rig is a GK 700RB-II with the 410RBH cabinet. I also use an Electroharmonix Bass Metaphors pedal (compression &/or distortion).

The strings on it sound good, but I will probably buy a set of the new Ernie Ball cobalt strings for it.

I would actualy like a fender MIJ or MIM mustang with a humbucker... cant concieve such a wierd thing coming from Indonesian Squier or whatever it is! xD
Its still an amazing idea for a bass! hate the colour though :S

I like mine . While they say string-thru doesn't affect the sustain this bass sustains significantly more than my other short scales - too much for some styles .

I played one of these yesterday at Sam Ash. The thing sounds and feels great IMO. I'm not crazy about the color though. How does the tone compare to the VM Mustang and the SS Jag? Only short scale I've ever picked up btw.

I got one of these for a sittin' on the couch watchin' teevee bass that I don't have to worry about if it gets knocked over or whatever. I've been playing it pretty exclusively since I got it. I love it. Love the sparkle finish and black accents. It sounds and plays great. And on top of it, it's a Mikey... wait, I don't know if I've ever heard MCR. Also, who's Mikey Way? Whatever. I love this bass. I usually use 34" scale basses, but this Mustang is winning me over.

So, I've got one of these on the way to me. As with my last bass, I have never tried one. It sounds good on all the youtube videos. Can any of you guys tell me: can it do the P-bass "thing?" My VM Jaguar's P pickup sounds great with my band, especially with my Chromes on it. I'll find out how it sounds soon enough, but would love to hear opinions about it, especially in a band mix. I just really wanted a SS and this one looked pretty.

Just revisited this thread...I've had a Mikey Way for a few months, and it's a really good bass. Here are a couple of photos next to my Squier Bronco which has a Gretsch 2202 TV Jones-design pickup in it:

My take on the bass:

- Don't know who M. Way is, don't care - but nice bass!
- Heavier than expected, but decent balance.
- I love the metalflake finish with the racing stripe. Those who lived through the hot rod era understand that this paint and stripes work well together.
- The humbucker is a nice choice for this bass. It gives it a different sound than other Fender/Squier products, with a bit of dirt on the lower end.
- Fit and finish are quite good.
- LOVE those short scale Squier necks with the satin poly finish on back. Feels great to play.

My band likes it, I like it, and it will probably stick around for a good long time.
