Well, that was probably the shortest-lived club membership I've had. Just sold my Musicmaster. Had it listed here on TB but my dad tried it and wanted to buy it, so it's still in the family.

Here are some photos for my for-sale thread:

Looks like GC staff are catching on to the value of these. The good and bad of eBay I suppose.
Invalid Link Removed

That was pretty much inevitable. When I bought mine used for $150 2 years ago I would stumble across the occasional cheap vista online somewhat regularly. I missed a couple of $150 priced shell pinks and surf greens just because I was late to the party. No one seemed to know they were going up in value. Even now and then you would see one go cheap on Ebay.
I have the same searches saved that I was using when I bought mine and use them regularly just out of curiosity. For the most part, everyone seem to have caught on. You see the occasional one slip through, but by and large people are asking at least $300 and up for a used Vista in shell pink or surf green and more likely around $400. You might pick up one in black or white for $250. The sub $200 ones are rare indeed these days.

First I'd like to be a member. Secondly, mine has been neglected for awhile. It concerns me that the bridge and the tuners are discolored,
the bridge even showing signs of a rusty deterioration?

Does anyone know of something that can be done and used to clean this nickel?

P.S. I don't play bass or guitar very well but I still like owning them, they are cool to look at and I do plunk them just for something to do
once in awhile, but what I am hating is this discoloration and nothing polishes.

Welcome ColoradoRobert! You are member No. 24!
I can see what you mean about the rust on the bridge. That would bother me too. The only thing I can recommend is a good rust remover that will take off the rust but will still show some pitting behind. Someone else might have a better suggestion.
The tuners I could live with. The discoloration almost gives the instrument a vintage look... But rust is definitely something you don't want.
Break out the elbow grease and give that bass a good cleaning and it should look MUCH better. And I bet it will still play great!

Thank you MakoMan for the membership and I did spend a little time cleaning it up
with some environmentally safe paint remover and a cotton swab. The tuners
will have to remain as they are. Mind if I ask about your name because I use to
have a guitar amp made by Mako is that what you are referring to or something else?

Good job. I'm sure it looks much better!
My name came from my first bass that I got a couple of years ago. It was a Mako, by the same company that made your amp and I paid 40 bucks for it. I only had the Mako bass for about a week before I upgraded, but by then I had already joined TB and used it in my forum name.

My serial starts with YN I wonder if anyone has something different on these or if all of them were built
in the Yako factory (YN stands for the Yako factory in Taiwan)?

My YN serial number is followed by a 6 = 1996. Are there any YN7's (1997)?

Hi,

I need some setup tips. Neck radius is 9.5" and i have setup my neck relief to .012" (.30mm) i use Thomastik flats (.043-.056-.070-.106) and Fender setup page says that string action is good to be 6/64" on bass side and 5/64" on treble side. This action is so low that i can't even play without the strings r buzzing on frets. I don't like high action at all, so any advice to setup Musicmaster bass :) New strings or setup high action?

You guys must have been napping when I scored this off eBay for under $260 shipped. Super clean, few little nicks here and there and old strings. Came with a peavey hardshell case someone modded to fit it but hey it works. I dont play short scale much but I think I may just sit on this bass and keep it around for fun as I have slowly seen the prices on these increase. I didnt expect to win the bass as I entered a low bid like $202 and won plus shipping and sales tax.

My first time playing a vista series and now I get the rave, I have had a 70s Fender mustang, 3 70s musicmasters , a 90s Mustang and 2 squier jaguar SS basses and this is better then all those and cheaper then all them but the Jags.
