No doubt it's a great bass. I recall playing one at the store when they first came out and really considered buying it, but a used Squier for $600 is (IMHO) CRAZY!
Perhaps another way to look at it might be, "Is it as good as a used Fender Standard/Player Precision?", 'cuz $600 or less would get you exactly that. I, for one, don't buy into the notion that "brand" or "country of origin" automatically determines quality. A great bass is still a great bass, no matter who made it.
All that being said, I gotta agree that $600 is a bit steep, especially after shipping is added in. Maybe the seller will accept an offer for a lower price or, if nothing else, defer the shipping costs?
I agree that a good bass is a good bass. I guess my mind is still stuck in the days when you could buy a brand new MIM P-Bass for $300 everywhere, everyday. I have a mid '90s MIM P that I bought used for $200 (albeit 20+ years ago) and it's a bass I'll never sell (it has outlasted downsizings that sent MIA P basses off to new homes).

Hi guys this is the complete sound test of the new Squier Precision Affinity model 2021 completely revisited and released as you know for a few months. I hope it will be useful for you to get an idea of how these new Affinity sound. In addition to the sound test, you will also find a bass cover played with this instrument without the use of effects!
New bass cover played with the new Squier Precision Affinity model 2021, this time I chose a song by Duran Duran in which there is a beautiful bass line by the great John Taylor completely played with the pick useful to test this instrument also with this technique!
The eternal challenge between Fender and Squier is renewed with a new battle this time between two Precision PJ of completely different price ranges. In this challenge, the entry level Squier Precision of the new affinity series is compared with the only American Precision PJ passive currently available in the Fender catalog, the Fender Precision American Performer.
Who will be the winner? The decision is yours after having seen and heard this complete sound test of the two instruments!
PS: for both basses I used a set of Fender strings 7250M Nickel Plated Steel Roundwound, Long Scale.

Great comparison vid! I like that you made sure both are using the same strings.
To my ears, the Squier has a perfectly acceptable range of sounds, but the Fender had an edge when it comes to clarity and "presence". What would that translate to in technical terms, more high-mids or something like that?
What I'm curious about is the differences in "feel". Both should be built along the same, if not nearly identical specifications, but does the Fender feel like it's worth $1000+ more than the Squier in your hands?
Obviously, "dependability" is a factor, but that won't necessarily show itself for quite some time, if at all.

I have now 2 basses - try to cut back in my old age. I'll take a number if still given.
First is a 71 Precision all original - the first bass I ever bought (top) and second my 89 made in Korea Squier Precision bass (bottom).
The Squier has been updated with EMG Geezler Precision pickup set, gold anodized pick plate and 50's style bridge with bridge cover and added tug bar and new precision knobs.
Oh yeah - all my basses sport LaBella flats.
a friend came over and I let him have the Squier - he said "but it is a Squier" then I let him play the 71 - then he realized that the bass was a very nice bass and very close in build quality.

Many changes in the last year and 1/2.
The blue Bronco body is gone. I cannibalized the neck and put it on my '78 Fender. The Bronco neck is thinner and smoother on the old arthritic hands. I also took the Nordstrand '51 custom 17mm string spaced pup out of the Bronco and installed it. Once I got the neck all fitted I painted the headstock to both match the body and take some of the "pale" look to it with the fretboard. New headstock sticker applied "Squier Broncomaster"
My son, he painted the Fender, made a new pickguard for my Squier Musicmaster. Color this time.
And my older daughter wanted to get in on a "painted for dad" bass so she hand painted a Squier CV Mustang body. I found a Bronco neck on Reverb that already had Hipshot tuners installed. I painted the headstock again for the same reasons listed above. She is the one who made the headstock stickers, that one is "Broncostang"
I love those Bronco necks, so much more comfortable. My luthier skills are tapped out at this point. And don't need any more basses. What color is left after all?

To bass player 479, I would like #52--since starting bass again 3 yrs ago I have enjoyed playing but needed to sell a Precision PJ and a Jaguar PJ but my Squier Mini Precision will never leave my sight, its my favorite bass of all time, a tall order considering that I once own ed 1967 new from the factory in 1967 Fender Mustang and Fender Jazz basses as well as a Gibson EB-0
