Yes just cut through the foil tape to mount the jack and pots. The foil tape here is used to complete the ground between the output jack and the pots.

I added the master volume to my new Squier Paranormal 54 Jazz Bass, and I like it! I also swapped out the tuners for a set of G&L ultralite tuners. I bought two 4-string sets of those from G&L for $48.00 per set, an unbelievable sale price on ultralite tuners. They are open gear tuners like those that were on it, but they weren't direct drop-ins. Two of the screw holes matched up, but I had to plug the other two on each tuner and drill new holes. I weighed the G&L ultralites against the Chinese tuners on the bass, and they saved about two ounces out on the end of the neck. It posed for a close-up with its new master volume.
Tell me if you've heard this before...
I've got a pile of 70's basses that I bought back in the day for next to nothing.
These days I only want to play lighter basses at 8.5 lbs (or less) which is the lightest Fender I have.
Just joined the club as I have a Fender Squier CV P coming from Sweetwater that weighs 7 lbs. 5 ounces!
It was listed as 7lbs. 2 ounces and had my rep check as I've been watching these for years and this seemed way too low. The extra 3 ounces is not a problem.
Really hope this one is solid right out of the box. Also realize that I'll probably also need to replace the tuners as it probably will be neck heavy.

I wanted to report that the pickguard I dropped on the Sonic was one of those $14 Amazon specials. It fit right in without any sanding or filing. A few screw holes were a scooch off, but didn’t present a problem. The material was softer than a quality guard, but I’m satisfied with the results.
Just got this 2022 Squier 40th Anniversary Jazz Bass in a trade. Has the satin 2 sunburst satin finish and the chrome hardware subdued look.
Not really familiar with them that much. Will probably need to sell to cover the difference in the trade. Not trying to crash the Club but someone might be interested and also find out more about these basses.
Solid basses, standard Jazz specs. They were $480-ish new, used still $400-ish.
You may want to contact these folks - they know what they're doing and I think they can change their winding formula to achieve a desired result. Great prices, too:

I use this pickup in my Harley Benton PB-50. It's slightly mellower than the stock Roswell. It's like a warmer version of the original vintage P single coil.
Used my pawn shop Affinity P Bass on a recording the other day, and it sounds exactly like a bass. 
Great range of tones, light weight, and plays well too.

Hey everyone,
Just curious if anyone has had this experience as well: I recently bought a $400 Squire vintage modified Jaguar V bass. I have to say, the neck feel, shape, and also clarity of the strings (no buzzing anywhere, great sustain, killer B string, etc) is perhaps better than on my $5000 boutique jazz bass made by an esteemed and sought-after luthier. The Jaguar does not have the same resonance and the PUs/electronics are clearly do not compare, as does not the hardware, but the neck and feel in all seriousness are at least on par if not better than the boutique J bass. Right now, I even prefer it to the boutique, which astounds me. I have not had this same experience on other Squire bass at all. I may even just change the PUs/preamp, maybe the hardware, and sell the boutique bass now.
Anyone have this same experience with any of their Squires?

Sorry, I don’t own any boutique basses fir a comparison but I have a VM ‘2013
that plays like a dream the neck is wow.
I also have CIC 50’s Tele and a couple CIC Squier jazz basses that are stellar basses, they get played way more than my Fenders as the necks on the Squiers
just feel killer. I am partial to thick poly.
I have had/played several over theyears
I only kept two (an ‘05 p and 2013 jazz)
the ones in between were let go as the necks just didn’t feel good or the basses would not take a good set-up it happens

Yeah, seems like Squires are hit or miss in terms of weight or feel, but the good ones are extremely good. I am playing this thing more than my boutique.
I have a Squier CV PJ, 2015 Indo that I picked up off Craigslist 3 - 4 years ago for $90 (interesting story for another time) that IMO is the equal to my 2022 Fender Player P (that I gave around $750 for new) as far as the neck, tone etc plus it's just over 8 lbs. I'm able to get equally super low string height on both and they're both just easy to play, sound good, and both get gigged about equally. Also had a Matt Freeman P (2013 MIC), equally great playing and sounding that I recently unfortunately sold to finance another purchase (new Sadowski MetroExpress, 8 lb 4 oz) and because it was a tad over 10 lbs and my old shoulder just couldn't handle the weight anymore. Most of the Squiers I've owned/played have been similar but you've gotta try some to find The One.

I love both of these. Congrats! I'm not a short-scale guy, but if I were, the Rascal is one of the two basses that would be in the running. I also have a Paranormal 54 Jazz. Like you, I added the Fender high mass bridge, but I have not changed the string tree. I did, however, change out the pickups for a set of noiseless Cort pickups that I just happened to have lying around. They are a big improvement over those wimpy Chinese pickups, and I'm not normally a big fan of Cort pickups. In fact, these were lying around because I took them off of a different non-Squier bass. I also added a master volume to mine on the upper horn. Master volumes are simply a personal preference of mine. You have a couple of wonderful basses there.May I join?

To be honest the rascal was a impulse buy, I was out with my son and we came a mint condition used one for half price so it went home with us. It wasn't till we got it home I realised it was a short scale. Yeah the pickups in the 54 are a little wimpy but I love the tone.
