I gots me a pic. I was thinking about putting a Pickguard on it (it was a flame color, looked cool on it) a Fender Bridge Cover and a Fender Pickup Cover. Do you think that would make it a little more vintage looking? Thanks to anyone who answers my questions.

Hey whats up fellas, i got this 5 string Precision Squire along with some some other goodies in a trade about 5 years ago. I never play it as im not much of a five stringer, and dont know ANYTHING about it other than the fella that got it ti me telling me that he was the original owner of the bass and he told me he had the pickguard modded, but not the pups. Ive never seen this kind of pup setup in a Precision Squire. Ide really like to know more about this bass and find out stuff like the years in which this type of Squire was made, if its worth a damn, ect... ANY AND ALL INFO ON THIS BASS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

It is a Squier Precision Standard V that is now discontinued. They came standard with the Jazz pups on a Precision body and are actually a pretty decent bass for the money. I think last year or 2007 was the last year they were made. I don't have any information beyond that but you could search on Squier Precision V and see what you get.

Here is a clip of Kenny Harris soloing on one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pFZ8zh7-uM

THANKS FOR THE INFO!!! Im very excited about this bass now!!! Im gunna mod the chit out of this bass with upgrades! It already sounds great for a bottom of the barrel 3rd world Fender spin off, and now i wanna get a new pickguard (tortoise shell) or a custom burl wood pickgaurd that i could easily make myself. Im also thinking of swaping out the pups for some Delanos. I'm also going to go with a new active preamp w/active passive push pull knob deal. Gunna go with a bad ass bass bridge, and new hipshot ultralite tuners. may the challenge begin!!!:bassist:

I have two. The red one is actually my first bass, but the only original thing is the body. I routed the J-pickup cavity and threw in a P/J set of Dimarzios and got the Mighty Mite fretless neck.

The CV jazz is stock except for a set of CS 60s pickups and the pickup and bridge cover (which is currently off).

Both are great basses and a joy to play live! :hyper:
