Squier P Special VS Fender P Special Active

It's time for me to buy my own bass, as Ive been using a friends Squier P Special. I like the bass just fine. It might not have the tone of a 1k bass but it plays better than some. That being said if I found a Fender P Special for a decent used price say $400ish would it be worth it? Or should I buy a new Squier for $250? Just curious if the quality warrants waiting for a good deal on the Fender. Active VS Passive really isn't an issue to me. Any advice is helpful. :)

I have a squier p special and a fender p, tbh, the squier sounds great with the jazz pickup and thinner neck but its not a patch on my fender p, they sound totally different but it all depends on the sound you want, you say you liked the squier so why not go for the classic vibe precision as i've heard nothing but good things about them, plus it will save you a few quid as well.
