Squier "Perfect Fit Replacement Parts" Mega thread

someone asked about the EY truss

Okay, I have a few questions. I have a white Squier vm Jaguar bass that I would like to black out. Thanks for any and all help!

1. I already have a set of black hipshot hb7s that used to be on a p bass that I want to throw on it. Problem is that the screw holes do not line up properly. They are off by such tiny amount. Any suggestions?
2. Would anyone know where to find a black control plate for the stacked knobs? Or maybe a different plate all together that would fit?
3. I tried throwing a black gotoh 201 bridge on it, but couldn't get the action low enough. Anyone have a suggestion for a black bent bridge for a replacement?

About the only suggestion for the screw holes is to glue in toothpicks or use JB weld wood epoxy to fill and redrill. The epoxy is supposed to be thread-able. There isn't much tension required for tuner screws to hold. If you're determined, you could sand the control plate until it is a matte finish and use a good rattle can black paint. I believe Hipshot makes the vintage style bent plate bridge in black, but not sure about fender mount in black.

Just picked up some HB7 tuners for my VM Precision 5, and they aren't a perfect fit. While they "drop-in", the screw holes don't line up and I'll have fill the original holes prior to installing.

Cheers,
LR

Update!

It turns out that the HB7's I purchased in the classifieds are actually HB1's... The seller made a mistake. I discovered this after purchasing a treble-side HB7 to complete the job. The HB7 is a perfect fit and the screw pattern aligns perfectly with the stock tunners from Squier. Live and learn...

i picked up a Pro-Tone P/J for cheap a while back ,and i frigging love it, it plays awesome and is light as a feather, but the black finish is kind of boring. I know these things are supposedly solid ash, but does anyone know if i can expect a 2-3 piece body or am i probably looking at a 100 piece jigsaw puzzle if i strip it
I have one of these, and love it also.
They're fairly rare.
Don't do it.

I didn't want to read this whole thread but I have a classic vibe 60s precision bass in sonic blue that I would like to change the pickguard on. Anyone recommend anything? I recall someone had put one in Mint I believe on their sonic blue and it looked great. Kinda leaning in that direction if anyone knows.

Great bass. Mint & chrome hats like Fender AV63. Wait until that sonic blue fades a little. So nice.
