Squier "Perfect Fit Replacement Parts" Mega thread

Too bad about the ridiculous price but hey, if it drops on I guess that's worth a lot. Good find.

Yeah, the price was higher than I wanted it to be, but like you said, if it's an exact "drop on" fit, I'm OK with paying a bit more...I found a couple other sites that had cheaper guards, but they both charged quite a bit for shipping, and one (I forget who), charged an extra $10 for "set up" when using a tracing I'd send them (they didn't have an exact drop on model).

This may have been already stated on this thread and elsewhere, but I think it would be useful for some to know that an SX Jazz neck will NOT directly fit a Squier Jazz body. In my case, a $40 SX fretless maple/maple neck was about 1-1.5 mm wider than the Squier VM Jazz body I had bought it for. I'll have my luthier install it anyway by slightly widening the neck pocket. The reason for my choice of a neck was the absence of other similarly cheap J width fretless necks (there is the $100+ Mighty Mite maple/ebonol fretless neck that gets favorable reviews, but it's P width which I'd like to avoid).

Why not sand down the heel of the neck instead? This way, if you change necks again to something of a Fender/Squier design, you won't have a gap around the heel. After all, the SX neck is considerably less-expensive compared to the Squier body. ;)

I have no plans for further upgrades to this bass. If the need ever arises, I'll save some more money and buy a higher-class instrument.

I guess this is the right place for me!

I have a white Jazz VM 5'er on the way with elixir nanoweb light strings.

I'd like to eventually replace the pickups and bridge with higher quality parts just because I like to tinker.

Anyone replaced the pickups on these? I'd like a modern sound, anyone thought about putting nordstrand fd-3's in here?

Hey folks,

Sorry if this is an often asked question, this thread has too many pages to read through!

I just bought [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] cheapo mirror guard from eBay for my newly acquired silver Squier CV Jazz and the holes don't line up. Does anyone know where I can get one that's guaranteed to fit?

TIA!

Are you trying not to drill extra holes??

I've been through about 5 or 6 different pickguards for all my Squiers and I've yet to find one that fits perfect. I always end up having to drill a new hole pattern. So I don't know of anywhere where you can get a perfect replacement. Have you looked at that All Parts site by chance??

I'd rather not have to drill new holes but I can if I have to. Most important thing is for it to line up with the neck pocket and control plate!

I've seen some posts saying the Fender MIA ones fit, some saying the '62 RI fit, and some saying that none of those fit. So I'll probably keep buying them until I get lucky!

I have a 'frankenstien' P bass made with a squier affinity series body, multi piece alder body with a front and back veneer, Danish oiled dark walnut, stamped 2004 in the neck pocket. a made in mexico p bass neck, rosewood fretboard, made 1995, fits like a glove!!! a 2013 usa made fender black fender pickguard on the front, fits the neck perfectly, 4 screws match the squier holes and is a quarter inch wider along the top edge than the squier pickguard. however, the usa fender pickguard was defective from the factory! I had to modify it to fit around the pickups!

Honestly, I've been happy with the stock Fender-designed pickups. Even more so now that I dropped an Audere pre in. Can go from vintage to modern, very easily.

I have 3 Squier VM Jazz basses. On 2 of them I have a Gotoh 201 bridge. They are a well known drop in bridge replacements.

BUT....for the third one I decided to buy a copy off of Amazon

Kmise Z3721 is a replica of a Gotoh 201....and this one is fantastic. For $9.16 (with shipping) it is a super deal. The fit is perfect. The quality is great.

I've tried other 201 clones and they were miserable. The screw holes didn't line up. The bridge height screws would strip thru. They were basically paper weights. The Kmise is far superior.

Hey guys. That sexy black Squier Jazz Active over there needs a new battery box. The packing tape method works, but takes away from the sexiness. Fender chooses not to sell ANY battery boxes, so I guess I need the next best thing. I've seen them at Guitarfetish for verrrry cheap, but I need the best quality available. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if Squier recently made a slight change to the hole pattern, but the Hipshot HB7's were NOT a direct drop in, despite the consensus. Got them for my 2016 VM77 and while the screw holes were close, they weren't close enough. I would have had to plug two of them for each tuner and re-drill...not what I was hoping for! The vintage threaded saddle bridge and Fender Pure Vintage '64RI pickups however fit perfectly:

Funny I just found this thread !!!

Was looking up for info and couldn't find it , eventually I bought the HB7 , and they don't fit !! What did you do eventually ?

I guess I'm just going to keep them until I get a new neck ...

By the way , look like a fun thread.

I was looking for a new bass for years (been a stingray player since 96) , and somehow landed on the idea of a cheap bass to upgrade.
Turned up to be a fun and rewarding project ;)

I'm seriously amazed by how this 185$ bass is starting to sound and feel !!!

By now I've installed the EMG GZR PJ and a black Gotoh 201

Trying to find a solution for the hipshots until I get the funds for a new neck

I just kept the stock tuners and I'm actually quite happy with them. They hold tune just fine. The info I saw that stated the HB7's would fit was in regards to the Squier VM77/VM series. Not sure about other Squires. The shafts DID fit, but it was the screw pattern that didn't line up...ie; not "direct drop in".

Exactly the same problem as mine...
Seriously considering to drill :)
Hope I won't distroy the neck
