Squier "Perfect Fit Replacement Parts" Mega thread

Honestly, I've been happy with the stock Fender-designed pickups. Even more so now that I dropped an Audere pre in. Can go from vintage to modern, very easily.

Eating my own words... I like the stock pickups, but decided to go with a set of Bartolini 57J1 pickups. They should be here by the end of the week.

Funny I just found this thread !!!

Was looking up for info and couldn't find it , eventually I bought the HB7 , and they don't fit !! What did you do eventually ?

I guess I'm just going to keep them until I get a new neck ...

By the way , look like a fun thread.

I was looking for a new bass for years (been a stingray player since 96) , and somehow landed on the idea of a cheap bass to upgrade.
Turned up to be a fun and rewarding project ;)

I'm seriously amazed by how this 185$ bass is starting to sound and feel !!!

By now I've installed the EMG GZR PJ and a black Gotoh 201

Trying to find a solution for the hipshots until I get the funds for a new neck

That thing looks killer man!!! Now all you need is a maple board ;)

I have the GZRs in one of my p/js too. Very nice pups. I need to get a new neck on that one though. The truss rod is stripped out and the neck is super straight. Which isn't a great thing. But I want to use the bass more because the pups are in it. Hopefully soon.

Great looking mods though Ilan.

Yeah that's how I've always done it. I mean, I've never been able to afford the higher end stuff. Or I usually spend my money elsewhere in my rig. But I've always felt Squiers were great for the money. And once I taught myself how to set them up and fully mod every piece, I love em. I've probably put anywhere from 3 to $400 into each of my 4 Squiers over time, give or take, and IMO, they play and sound just as good as a fender. It's such a cool experience too to do it all yourself too. I've done everything from neck swap outs, pup replacement to refinninshing and every and anything in between. It's just awesome. Plus, if you mess, it's not a huge deal.

Exactly what I was thinking .... If u mess it up ... It was still cheaper than the average price of my pedals !!!

Did u see this ? ;)

Hey folks,

Sorry if this is an often asked question, this thread has too many pages to read through!

I just bought [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] cheapo mirror guard from eBay for my newly acquired silver Squier CV Jazz and the holes don't line up. Does anyone know where I can get one that's guaranteed to fit?

TIA!
I'm not sure about the CV Jazz but I just bought a Squier Affinity PJ body and the black MIM Precision pickguard I bought from WD Music for a Fender PJ is also a perfect fit for the Squier...every single screw hole lines up and a really good fit at the neck pocket, too.
I'll be buying a gold mirror pickguard for the Squier since the fit is dead on.

I have seen the Gotoh 201 mentioned a few times - provided it's a straight replacement I'll have to take a look around and try to source one out.
I just installed the Gotoh 201 a few days ago ... Got it on eBay for 36$

Fits perfectly , looks great and a HUGE improvement in set up ... Couldn't believe how my options for the set up opened up , was able to lower the strings - no problem ... The bass feels much better !!!!

Thanks

I saw this , and many other videos before I felt confident enough to do this ...

Well, not my proudest moment but it's done ...
NOT SO clean result ... But it works ;)

I kind of forced it in ... I also realized I don't have the proper tools .. For example , a longer screw driver would be useful... I only had a tiny one or the drill , too difficult to use the tiny one , used the drill and scratched the tuner a little ...

Had a hard time taking out those "rings" in the holes ... Scratched the headstock a little bit

But all in all I'm happy it worked ... And I'm going to use all these esthtic accidents as excuses to buy the warmoth neck even sooner ;)

Lesson learned .... Buy the ultralight Hipshots ... Only one hole per tuner
