Some people will tell you the wood type makes a difference in tone, some will tell you it doesn't. It is an ongoing (And sometimes nasty) debate that has never, and probaly will never be fully resolved. Me personally. I don't think it makes all that much difference, I never buy a bass because of what wood is used. I only care what the wood looks like when it is finished in a transparent color. And even if you believe that the wood affects the tone greatly, whether one type of wood sounds "better" than another is strictly a matter of personal preference. I wouldn't sweat it, just get the bass that appeals to you the most, sound and playability wise.
