Squier VM Jaguar Bass

Many people aren't aware of this but MF and GC share the same stock at the same warehouse in Kansas City. Ditto for music123.com. I once ordered a Peavey Cirrus from MF. The description said that it had black hardware, but the bass showed up with gold hardware. I returned it. So a month or so later I ordered a Peavey Cirrus from GC and what showed up? The same exact bass that had been sent to me from MF, only the paperwork showed GC this time around. I called GC customer service to return it, and sure enough, the address was the same warehouse used by MF.

One other thing, if MF is now showing that the bass is available on 9/20, it could mean that their allotment due on 9/1 has already been ordered by customers, and their next shipment is due on 9/20. That situation was explained to me before when I preordered a bass.

Can't wait to hear the reviews on these. This looks like a great bass to noodle around on.

Depends on how much of a hurry you are in and how much you have to spend. You could get the Squier VM Jazz in the natural finish that's already out. Would be better than the SX ash jazz that has that same look. Exactly which SX version of the ash jazz were you considering?

i can wait until Christmas i think those 2 are my favorites, i really like the woods on the SX, remember im coming back from a long pause so i need everything , amp, strap,tuner etc,etc and thanks for your help. :)

Just played one today at my local store. Sounded great, good, warm thumpy tone out of the P pup and a bit of nasally burp out of the J pup. The stacked knobs are great. No lack of versatility and fit and finish were great.

Unless you've seen that date somewhere else, I don't know about that. It may be different for different stores depending on how their pre-order systems work. The only place(s) I've seen that specific date has been on the Guitar Center/Musician's Friend websites.

I'm tempted to make a Blues Brothers type quote about a full tank of gas and so many miles to Chicago, but...that's still a looong drive for me.

But thanks for the heads up. It's nice to know the Jag actually exists.

I would NEVER buy anything off EBay if it was half price and they drove it to my door.

I'll wait till my local GC gets them and then I can touch it, play it and fondle it warmly in my own arms and play it with my own fingers before I actually plunk down cash for it.

I don't doubt the pix - the clue for me is that little sticker that's on it that a new Fender product receives, and that's even UNDER the PG temp-shield.

Somewhere in this giant brain of mine I remember another site that uses that same draped background with that same fabric and color too - just can't place it at the mo.

Makes one wonder if there were some preliminary Jags shipped and then Fender pulled the ads and now we see the Sept 20th availability date changed from Sept 2nd or so.

These two might be in that original shipping manifesto.

OK - here's an interesting part too:::

Notice that the "7250 NPS" strings STILL HAVE THE RED SILK on them!!! These don't exist any more.

Notice that there is no evidence of the FB being edged with the white binding either - and that MAY have been a typo or a dumb copy/paste by someone in the advertising side of Fender - but I swear that the necks were originally stated as white bound.

Just interestin', that's all.

That's how it's listed in the specs page for the Jag on the Squier site, no mention of the neck being bound, just the blocks. If the neck were bound, it would say so on the specs page, just like it does for the VM Jazz, I would think.

Could be that they decided to use up their remaining stock including them on the new Squier basses
