I have a black 4 string SQ. That MOP pick guard looks awesome... where did you get it?

The one on my bass is White Pearl, but they also offer a couple other shades of white such as Cream Pearl & Aged Pearl. Of course they have black & other colors, etc. I chose from their Fender US 5-string Jazz bass pickguards. No shaving, dremel tool required - it was a simple drop-in. One or two screw holes were a tiny bit covered by the new pickguard, but I did not feel the need to drill them out any further - YMMV. I simply screwed those 2 in by hand & they settled in to the half-hole just fine.

Does anybody have the Vintage Modified Jazz (fretted) with roundwounds on it? Does it have a typical j bass spank to it or does it sound different? I only ask because I already have a jazz with flatwounds and I want a jazz bass that has some slap to it and can be had for so little.

YEP! Classic J Bass honk all the way, IMO.

I call mine the "Slap-Fest"!!..it is that good..i come up with new slappin & poppin rhythms just playing that bass..then i try it out my other ones. (erven tho they cant match it.) I have DR Hi - beams .gonna change to DR Lo Riders on thurs.

The VM Jazz has got to be the best bass that Squier has produced to date. I have wanted a Fender MIA Jazz for years but after hearing about and later trying out the VM I was hooked. My wonderful wife bought me one(VM) for my birthday this past January and I haven't put down since.

I have a Squier MB-4, the one with the skull & crossbones on it. It's just a cheap bass but I don't find many that sound that good under $1000NZ
