Srkp4 mod

sorry if this is the wrong forum for this thread.

I play pretty odd experimental music in my solo project so I like weird things. When ibanez released the kaoss bass I almost bought it immediately. Problem is: they put it in the ********* bass body they could come up with.

Anyone have any tips on how to do something similar into a better bass? I typically play jazz basses and wouldn't mind finding a cheap squier vintage mod model and gutting it for a kp mount.

How creative can we get?

Wow, that strikes me as pretty half-ass implementation for a production model. Weird.

This actually just came up fairly recently in another post about built-in effects on a bass. My suggestion then was the same as it is now: Look into something like the Livid Guitar Wing. It certainly is not a perfect solution and it definitely has its limitations, but it is a good place to start, especially if you already have some MIDI controlled effects and have incorporated/are open to incorporating a laptop or tablet into your rig, and it definitely is far less limiting than something like an Ibby with a slapped on miniKaoss pad.

If your heart is set on incorporating a mini kaoss pad into a bass it's totally doable. Are you hoping/planning on doing the work yourself, or are you looking for a luthier to do the work? my suggestion would be to build a new body rather than modding an existing one - that will give you the best opportunity for getting what you want.

The SRK is just a kaoss pad mounted on an SR body. The SR series is one of the largest selling basses worldwide ever outside of the Fender stable. :) I couldn't help but laugh that you hated on it, but then said you'd rock it on a Jazz body, again, one of largest selling basses ever. If this is going to be on something "cool", then hopefully it can be well outside of any widely known Fender derived design... :D

Nothing against soundgear but this is a particularly low end model. It felt cheaper than their 200 series

I'm in no way qualified to do the work myself. I own a recording/rehearsal studio with an in house luthier so I'll have him look into it. Making a custom body from scratch isn't a bad idea.

The livid wing is a really cool piece and I've considered it before but I want to ditch the laptop for this project.
