Stage 81: S/D thread

I vote P bass. I like a bass with some junk in the trunk.

Caught the sword and clutch down here a while ago. The sword stole the show but they always kill it in Texas. Must be something in the water. But it was a great show. Dixie witch opened.

I'm really unfamiliar with the Sword, so it'll be interesting to see them live. I must have seen Clutch 10 or 11 times between 1999 and 2010, was getting burned out on them but it's been a couple of years so hopefully I'm re-energized.

I wish Dixie Witch was opening here, those guys are killer. Played a few shows with them when I lived in New Mexico, was always blown away by their performance. Super nice guys, too. Haven't seen them with the new guitar player.

Morning Gentlemen.

Quick question, any of Yous ever ship an acoustic guitar? It's gonna be shipping in a hardshell case, and I wouldn't think it would be much different than shipping a bass as far as boxing it up, and all that. My only concern, would be that an acoustic guitar seems a bit more fragile than say a bass (whatever make model), which I've done a few times.

Those are the kind of fuucked up jesus freaks that live in GR.

Religion is like a d!ck. Its cool to be proud of it, but you just cant go around shoving down people's throats. Sadly there are a lot of people in my city that dont understand that, they are out to "save" you.

Awesome way to define religion there!!!

On a side note the ENT is definitley slicing me up proper, deviated septum one side, polyp on the other, remove debri from the cavities, and removing my turbinates, Woohoo!!! I hope once he bores me out 30 over the migraines will go away or at least be minimized. Doc actually said you on board for me to work on you, Yes Sir, Cut and Dope me up Doc!!!

Went to Jeff's Guitar Warehouse in Newport News on the return ride. Had a cool vintage Hondo SG and a neat Kay short scale SG bass on the rack, and some cool old tube amps one was a 1956 I think he said, this one.

Awesome Man! Glad to see the Docs may get to the bottom of it for Ya. Like I said, I may be in for the same type of deal, down the road.

I have shipped acoustics in gig bags before. It will be a piece of cake with the hardcase. Take the tension out of the strings. Peanut/shredded paper/etc the shite out of the cardboard shipping box, and always fully insure(I even insure the shippings costs, if they jazz it up, I want all my FN money back you shipping company bxtches). If it wiggles inside the case, go buy some of that clear plastic sheeting for protecting stuff when you paint at Wallyworld, it's dirt cheap and you can wrap stuff up for shipping with it. Warp that wound the twang box till it is snug in the case. If the clambakes damage it in shipping you don't want them to say you didn't pack it well, well I guess that can be said for other things you pack as well...

Thanks Brother, I asked about the fungal sinusitis, since I popped hot on the allergen tests for body yeast sensitivity(yuck) like I was telling you, but he said there is no test for that, but he said he will know when he works on me. So I won't know till second week of February, but yeah I will keep you in the loop, since you seem to have the same type of migrianes and migriane triggers as me.

+1 Trinidad and curt are cool.

New guitar player with the dreads I've seen him live, and in public like four times, and he seems to be a bit of a douche.

Last time I saw him, he showed up in denton for the weedeater show and I said oh hey, saw you with Dixie witch blah blah kinda thing and he looked at me like I said I watched him poop secretly and he just did a 180 and walked away.

Live when I saw them he was extremely cocky and kept flailing around and riding his Flying V, knocking his cable out of his jack. Did that at least 4-6 times.

So I'm streaming Earth Rocker, first time I've heard it. Does the production sound a little flat to anyone else? I've tried two different HD streams, using good headphones and a USB audio out box from my PC, and it just sounds flat and thin. Vocals are huge and up front, everything else sounds like never got mastered or something. Weird.

EDIT- the streams are jacked up. Wildly different EQ from track to track on a full-album stream. Just about jumped out of my seat when this song came on.

I wasn't a fan of the production either but most Clutch albums have shvtty production except for Blast Tyrant and Robot Hive in my opinion.

The thing that stood out on Earth Rocker is the garbage bass tone.

My uncle periodically gets them, and they sonic blast them (ultra sonic, idk if a drive through Oreo based shake would fix it) but that is still a shock to your system as much as to the stone, so the doc told my uncle expect a little blood in your urine. Apparently a little means a river of salsa will spout from you the first time lol.

And for a while after you have to Carry a vial and strainer with you to pee through and collect the pieces like perverted prospector.

I'm still tossing up whether or not I should trade my Jazz for a P. I was pretty set on trading it last week but last night I started mucking around on it again and found myself riffing away for the next two or so hours totally loving life. It just feels so nice and it sounds so smooth...but that P bass ballsiness is hard to deny. I really love how fuzz pedals work with a P, too.

Life's hard :(
If you want more P-ish balls from your Jazz you should try wiring the pickups in series. This adds more output and girth. Also, it wouldn't cost anything and you get to keep the Jazz you love.

I tend to agree, Blast Tyrant sounded huge, great tones too. The issue with the stream seems to have gotten better, production is a little thin, not terrible but yeah, there's not much going on in the bass department.

My grandfather gets them, and our one cat just had urinary crystals, I guess they call them crystals in cats, man that cat suffered terrible, poor thing, and my Grandfather would have this look of pure pain, the please kill me know look. Migraines are brutal and I regularly wish for death but man things could be worse I suppose.
