Stage antics? Ideas? Get creative!

This is all to get the audience engaged, right? And to be remembered?

Meh. We just play good music, speak directly to the audience, invite them up on stage periodically, and generally try to put on a good show. Usually we're playing short sets that don't leave time for a great deal of "antics"...

Play the theme from a popular commercial and vamp on it.

Ya know how some songs sound alike? Start one and turn it into the other sound alike after a few bars.

-- Now having said that, and heard a group do it, I forgot the songs :(
Something like: Start the piano intro the the theme from the Munsters, syncopate it and you have the opening to Leroy Brown.

We did that in the early 90's to Faith No More's "Introduce Yourself"

It works.

How about you get some random hotties from the crowd to come up. Give them your instruments and have them put them on. Then you have them put their arms behind their backs, you slide your arms through and play your instruments on them from behind. The drums might be tricky... I'd have to experiment to know for sure... But I think it could work.

And even if it didn't - think about it... how much fun it would be trying to make that work! But if it DOES work... think about how much fun that would be too!

Remember, you heard it here first.
Have them put their arms behind their backs? That would mean their hands would line up with your... :D

For drums is simple make sure you have a chick with a skirt and if you know what I mean a chick with a skirt....... and then make her sit on your lap. =D

In our last show besides from the usual jumping, hitting each other and random stuff, and our apparel being gas masks, make up, denim and red/black stripped stalkings; I presented one of the songs doing an imitation of Andy Kaufman's "Foreigner Man"(take in mind that most people in Colombia don't speak english and don't know Kaufman)got a huge cheer from the crowd; and in one of our final noise breaks, where I rub a drumstick on the strings, our singer(a girl) pulled my devilock and we did the whole domination/submission thing, it got people hectic.

And for those who have posted boring commentaries in this thread; I myself think of me and my band more as entertainers than artists!!! :spit:

Hey, The Owl!!!
About 4 years ago,I set my bass rig up with a microwave on top of it and made popcorn in the second set. Of course, I just gave it to the most beautiful girl in the crowd. What girl doesn't like popcorn? It was popping during the song and I wish I would have miked it. That's great that you thought to do that, too. Great bassist think alike!
We had a band from Texas open for us years ago, the drummer set up a butane camp stovetop with his set and fried bacon on a cast iron skillet during a song. he was flipping the bacon with his drumstick while playing. after the song, he ate it. I can't remember their name. He also mounted a cast iron skillet upside down and played it like a cowbell. Brilliant!
Soon, I will sell raffle tickets at the beginning of the show as the cover and raffle off old 8 tracks and used birthday cards.
Last night I covered"Take it on the Run" by REO Speedwagon:bassist: and got everyone pretty stirred up. It's so fun.

If i went to a show where you guys were doing this and your band sucked, I would think you were lame.

on the other hand. . .

If I went to your show and you guys were good and doing this, I would think you're an attention whore and also lame.

but I am an a$$hole so it doesn't matter:)
