I think he has been playing an Alembic since 1973. After 51 years, I can’t imagine him completely dropping Alembic.

Most of his Alembics are tuned ADGC, and I understand the 5-string to be EADGC.

The Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy album was recorded with the Ric. I love that nasty stanky tone. QUITE a bit different from what his tone became with the Alembiic. Which I also love.

My 4000 was my first good bass. It’s nice to know Stanley Clarke liked one enough to buy it too.

I am sure that Sadowsky sounds nice, but I don’t think it will have that special honky Alembic sound that I associate with Stanley Clarke. That’s so ingrained in his playing that it’s hard to imagine him with something new.
