Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9)

Wow. DS9! Loved that show. I grew up on Star Trek reruns and later the movies. I was really pumped when the Next Generation came out and I remember watching the 1st episode, Encounter at Farpoint and being very disappointed. I didn't even watch it again for a couple years. When I finally did I was hooked, the show, the cast and the stories got so much better. Then came DS9 and I loved that from the start. I never really got into Voyager. I'd watch but not like the others.

Anyway, cool show!

It ended a life of watching star trek stuff, although I did go back and watch NG long after it wrapped. Flame away, it won't change the fact it stunk.

How to take a lame movie and turn it into a lame series.

What would have been better?

Bring back Farscape and produce the missing 5th season! Bastidges. Leaving us on the 4th season cliffhanger.

I know they did a mini series to try to wrap it up, but a full 5th season would have been better.

Not illogical in the context that I was a mega trekkie from early childhood. I had the toys, I played out a thousand episodes with my friends. DS-9 was such a disappointment to me, it changed my feeling about the whole franchise. Oh look, a Ferengi is a con man. My, this new troublesome stranger sure has a funky forehead/ears. I'm sure there are plenty of things I like you might find crappy. I hope when you rip me for it, it contains the same level of lighthearted snark I hold. Carry on with your parade, and fanboy anything you like.

Yup. I'm up to season 4 on Netflix. Fell asleep during too many episodes. It's like there isn't any middle ground. There are some really good episodes. And then there are the others.

And from a tech perspective, the up-scaling fuzziness is a bit off-putting on my big screen.

On the plus side, we don't have to deal with Deanna Troi.

Well, since I’ve been WFH due to the Covid 19 virus. I’ve been watching a DS9 episode at lunch most days.
I’m now into S6 and the Dominion War. Sisko has just retaken the station and next episode Jadzia & Worf next married.

I am enjoying it very much, second or third time around.

I am also not as annoyed by Alexander Rozhenko nearly as much this time ! :laugh:
