Star Trek Discovery

S3E6. Now we're talking.
Retrofitting Discovery with future tech: programmable matter, new com badges with holographic iPads and tricorders, and a shuntless Spore drive interface for Stammets.
This season has the potential to go really cool directions now.

Can't wait to uncover the lore behind "The Burn".

I swear I'm not trying to mess with @Gorn. But this season is far better than the previous seasons. It's no longer just passable. It's really good.

And yes, Michael cries in E6. :D

Dudes,

I don't know if it's just the sheer exhaustion of this year but man, I'm having the hardest time following this Discovery season. I watch an episode and I can barely recall what I had just watched by it's end. From what I can gather, they are like 900 years in the future where the Federation is not a major galactic hegemon.

I've gone back to watching TOS episodes for simpler stories and episodes. :D

930 I think.

yes, I have taken to watching the previous ep recap st the start of the episodes now.

This season is phenomenal. Proper Star Trek. And I'm digging the new, upgraded Discovery-A with its funky detached nacelles.

Nice tie-in to Picard this week, with the Qowat Milat (who raised Elnor) and their tradition of 'absolute candour'.

I'm loving the tributes to departed characters this season too - USS Nog (RIP Aron Eisenberg), USS Yelchin (RIP Anton), and, of course, the Spock hologram in this week's ep.

Is season 3 better Star Trek? Or just better space action? Do they explore at all?

It feels much "Trekkier" this season. Mostly more in a TNG sort of way rather than TOS, but having the 31st century backdrop and all the new tech makes it feel fresh. Although there was a great nod to TOS this past week. :D

Both Discovery and The Mandalorian have included gratuitous, blatant fan service this week, but fan service done right.

It's 900+ years in the future from Season 2. A **LOT** of things have changed, some of which make space exploration a near impossibility. If exploration is what you want, you probably won't like S3 any more than the previous seasons.
