I haven't watched season 4 yet. I guess I need to binge this week and catch up. Did I read something last week or two about another spin off series, something about Area 31 or something like that, with the first captain woman from an earlier season? It's too early in the morning to remember all of the details.

No spoilers but IMO too much fan service in the first two episodes. Also the dialogue in the first episode was somehow off compared to the rest of the series—a few too many action-movie-one-liners. Hoping it'll get better and not be like the last season of Picard.

Of course they're making another show. Why not? Everyone knows quantity is better than quality. While they're at it, they can cut each episode down to 15 seconds, make it vertical instead of horizontal, and put it on tiktok.

I didn't finish the episode, Don't recall her crying, but there was lots of dizzying fast action mayhem.

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Michael Burnham raised on Vulcan by Sarek and Amanda? IIRC she renounced the Vulcan suppression of emotions thing to the point of going in the opposite direction and embracing her emotions. I'm not defending that as anything but a failed dramatic "tool", but at least there was some kernel of an explanation there.

Oh she's been on a whole emotional journey. She embraces both Vulcan logic and human emotion, because new Star Trek writers are very deep. Usually it means she's crying a lot, and giving speeches about everyone crying together.

Perhaps in a better frame of mind, I gave S5 another try. Have watched all four episodes released as of now. The overall story arc is interesting (Red Directive!). There's a whole lot of baggage and fan service along the way but they have a lot to wrap up on their way to saving life as we know it and I accept that.

I'm in to the end. :bag: Please don't ask me why I like it - I just do.

We've been watching this :poop: show. I'm sure this series is the worse Star Trek ever created. Michael either whispers or cries (or both) through each episode. The writing is horrible. I guess the last episode, Episode 4, Face the Strange, they had run out of ideas for the series, so filled this episode slot with some sort of time travel filler. I really dislike time travel, and this take on it was pretty horrible. Why do I torture myself each week with this garbage? Well, it'll be over soon, I guess. Back to rooting for L'ak and Moll.

I went into Discovery as open-minded as possible.
I wish I hadn't don't that. There are now things floating around in there which I wish were somewhere else.
More virtue signaling than sci Fi. The only worse project that sadly bore the name Roddenberry was "Earth Final Conflict".
I'd like that removed too!
Please.
