Star Wars Ep. 7 Teaser Trailer

I've been kind of turned off by the latest string of Star Wars movies, everything after Return Of The Jedi. At least to me, they are mildly entertaining, but nothing to write home to mom about. I have low expectations for this next version. I'll watch it but.... I probably will come in with a jaded attitude from the start.
It is widely understood that all of those prequels are pure dog squeeze and horribly disappointing to even the staunchest of fans.
Topher Grace got a hold of them and edited them all down into one prequel movie that is supposedly pretty darn good. Too bad we'll never see it.
My niece was born in the 80s, when she finally saw Star Wars a few years ago she was like "What a cheesy crappy old sci-fi movie." She didn't get why it was a big deal.
I was born in '86 and even though I know how big of a deal they were I don't really care that much for them much like a lot of other "big deals" like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc. It's hard for younger generations to appreciate the pioneers when we grew up with the films and music that were influenced by and possibly improved upon their predecessors. That being said the prequels were inferior

I'm doing extra nothing at work today and I came across this edited version of the prequels. This guy cut out all the crap (which includes most of episode one). A vast improvement.
Only the emperor and second death star were destroyed. The empire still has bases and fleets and stormtroopers throughout the rest of the galaxy.
Watched a bit of this last night. I actually really enjoyed the first five minutes and the fact that they pretty much excluded all of Ep. I. That being said, and even with this edit, the movie was still hard to watch. The script really was garbage for those films.
Not bad, horrific. The story wasn't a strong point of the originals, but the prequels were worse. You should watch the prequel reviews on redlettermedia on YouTube. Hilarious and illuminating. The guy breaks down exactly what went wrong and it's basically about George Lucas having too much creative control.
George Lucas should have just been happy to retain his merchandising rights and left the creative stuff to others.

Probably. But it'll be interesting to see exactly how it'll suck. He made Star Trek movies to appeal to non Star Trek fans. He took what used to be about the story with some action and made action movies with some story. The casual viewer in me enjoyed the reboots. The Star Trek nerd in me thinks they're an abomination. But he rebooted Trek. This will be a direct sequel. There's no doubt he'll make it appeal to non Star Wars fans, but I wonder if he'll destroy the spirit of it like he did with trek.
See that's just it- I cannot be a casual observer AND a Star Trek nerd. I am a Star Trek nerd, and as such I found the first reboot film OK while the second one sucked the big hairy meatball. They had GAPING plot holes that absolutely could not be reconciled, the sets were crap, and the acting in certain scenes left me wondering, "Really?"
JJ probably won't do it, but there is rumor that the movie you speak of will be made. However, Rogue One is being made, and the teaser looks sick:
Seen them and they are awesome! Definitely worth the watch even if you're only a small time fan of the movies.
