Amp goes in and out! If I slap the bass hard sound comes back . I've changed cord and purchased a new guitar better but it still happens. I switched to an auxiliary amp and it still happens even with the new bass. So confusing.

Not sure what you mean here. Did you purchase a new, better guitar?

Sound comes back when you "slap the bass hard".
Does this mean you physical hit the bass, or it comes back while playing slap style?

Try this...
Turn your amp all the way down.
Unplug your bass from the instrument cable, leaving the cable plugged into the amp.
Now hold the guitar end of the cable firmly in your hand with your skin touching the end tip on the connector.
Turn your amp up slightly, You should hear a nasty buzzing sound.
Increase volume to a louder but comfortable listening level.
Now wiggle the cable around as much as possible with your hand that is touching the connector. Be sure the whole cable from your end to where it plugs into the amp gets moved around.

Now, using your other hand, grasp the instrument cable connector that is still plugged into the amp. While it's still plugged in, wiggle the connector.

Does the nasty buzzing ever stop or cut out briefly?

What I mean is with the new bass it's better but it still happens and without warning. And it goes out completely I'm playing with no sound then I slap the strings really hard with an open hand and it's back sometimes with static and sometimes not.

I have an old Zoom multi-effects pedal. When I use it, some stock settings for amp modeling do something similar, though maybe not as extreme. It seems to be more prevalent with effects that use compression.
So are you intentionally using a lot of compression? Do your amps have any adjustable compression?
I don't do a lot with effects, so not sure if other things might contribute. But get all and any effects out of the system if you haven't already. Turn down any adjustable compression if the amps have that. Then see if that changes things.

Do your amps have tube input (preamp) stages, or is everything solid state?
