I bought a pair of 12" DJ/PA speakers to use for side fills.
Great sturdy construction. Pretty good sound for the price.
Not anywhere near the advertised frequency response but I didn't expect they would. Good efficiency. Week in bass and very strong in the midrange. Tried a bass through them and they'd be OK for a small small club. (the size of a two car garage)
But then - the darn plastic speaker jack on the back is already broken. How can they put together a good plywood cabinet and then cheap so far out on the jack plate that it brings the whole quality down. I can't use one of them until I replace the jack as it is chuffing out the crack. No response from their customer support.
Anybody have a source for metal jack plates?
Oh - and they don't have feet - which is probably OK for PA since they'd normally go on stands.
Update on this.
I wanted to install one of these in one of the cabinets

This amp work good as personal monitors with a little mixer when it's needed.
I took apart the MSC 12" speaker.
There's no internal acoustic damping material.
The plywood is 1/2" it looks like good solid plywood, but it's not faced with birch. Looks more like Luan.
Nails for two of the corners were projecting into the box. They had missed the panel they were nailing into. There was lots of white chalky glue so maybe this made up for it. There was no corner blocking but a cabinet this size may not need it. There are two braces. One on the side running front to back. And one on the back running bottom to top. In order to install the amp I had to rip out the back brace. I just had to reach in with pliers and wiggle it to get it out. So much for the white chalky glue and nails - it's not very strong.
I put in some poly fill and bolted it all back together.
Seems to work pretty well. If I get some time in the future I'll go back in and put in some corner blocks.
I also replaced the jack panel on the other speaker with a nice metal one. Another problem I ran into was that the two jacks on the original cheap plastic jack were too close to each other and didn't let me plug in right angle plugs.
Overall, not bad boxes for the price, but they could use a little refinement. I'll find out in 6 months how well they actually do with wear and tear. There is no customer support so you're on your own. I tried contacting them several times about the bogus plastic jacks and they never contacted me.
