Stepped On a Rusty Nail

I was just outside in my yard barefoot and stepped on a rusty nail. Nothing painful or anything, but it made a pinsized hole and had about a drop of blood come out of it.

I came inside and rubbed the toe with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol. And I just WebMD'd tetanus. I pretty sure I've had a tetanus shot before, but it has been years.

Is there anything else besides jaw soreness and aches that I should be worried about?

Agreed! Do it today or early tomorrow if it's too late. I stuck myself with a rusty screw 6 months back and got the shot, just to be sure. Just so you know, you'll feel the shot for a couple of days...but it's not bad and sure beats the alternative.

WHy are you asking a bunch of bass players if you should go to the doctor or not? Just to play devil's advocate, I'm going to give you poor doctoring advice... Don't see a doctor, go and jab or other foot with the nail so whatever you get you get it in symmetry. Then stop washing your hands for a week and start eating bags of flaming hot cheetos.

Will do smartass. I wasn't terribly worried about it, but I thought it would be worth at least asking about. Like the person mentioned the "if I had a nickel thing", this isn't the first time and in the past I've not worried about it, but I figured I'd at least try to draw from the hive mind of Talkbass.

I called the clinic and they said that what I did should be fine, but that I needed to know when my last Tetanus shot was and that they last ten years. I'm pretty sure I've had one in the last decade, but I'm going to call and check about that as well.
