More likely scenario is that it costs about $75 to build, they wholesale for $150, and MF sells em for $300. If that $75 changes to $100, the final price goes to $400, not $325.

man, i hate how the mix fretboards and finishes, maple and rosewood should be an option for every finish! i'd sell my Ray34CL for a walnut with maple board
I hear you man but these SUB basses are real cheap so options are limited! I love the finish on my RAY34CA. Its called 3-tone Sunburst (maple neck) buts its darker, like a tobacco burst. Gorgeous.
Walnut with maple would be awesome.
they gotta stop offering finishes on the cheapies that you cant get on the "real" Musicmans. First the silverburst on the Ray34, now the walnut stain!

At this UK link you can preorder the new Sub basses and it says expected ship date of 7/7/12.

I'm sort of annoyed at this new line. I have a feeling if the response is anything like Squires then I have an instrument (my ray34) which is now going to be devalued.

September...I get it. September is a MONTH, not a "date".
Since the UK site had a definite date on it, I was wondering if anyone had word on an EXACT date of release in the US.

Also, "Narrow 38 mm nut width" on the Ray4. It's got a neck like a Slo Special StingRay. :scowl:
However it looks like the 5er's going to come is that spiffy walnut finish, so that's cool.

Just read a review from someone who tried one this morning at Rockpalace, The Hague. He was impressed. (€322,-)

I've always kinda wanted a Ray, but never quite enough to pay what they cost. At this price point I'm very interested.
