I'm sort of annoyed at this new line. I have a feeling if the response is anything like Squires then I have an instrument (my ray34) which is now going to be devalued.

Better sell it while it still holds some value! :p

Enjoy!

Thank you. I was wondering when they were going to update their site with the new line.

I'm going to buy one of these when they're out and I want the Walnut finish...
But the four or the five? I know if I get the four it will get more play time, but it's always nice to have a fiver.
Decisions, decisions.

I wonder, out of pure curiosity, and the fact that I've never played a MM or MM style bass,
do the bass and treble controls have center detents so you know when your tone is flat? Or is it flat in the 0 position?

The Walnut looks great!

Sterling updated their site for which basses are available where.
I also sent another email regarding the release in the U.S. and got the same answer: mid-September.

Just an update.
Or not really...

I feel the same way. As long as the electronics aren't total junk, this could be great!

Me too. But if they are, replacing the the circuit wouldn't be too bad since the bass itself is under $300. Worst case, re-wire for passive output. :hyper:

according to Pat Park the electronics will be the same as on the 'standard' SBMM line - so pretty decent by most accounts

Now I'm confused. In the first post it showed the only available color was black with maple board. This last ad shows the Walnut Stain in the SR5?

See? [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Yeah, they changed which bass finishes were available where.

The international page has the option you are talking about:

When I first emailed the guy months back, I asked him if Black/Maple was going to be the only option for the 5 string and he said yes.
Looks like they're messing with us.

I wonder if US/CAN can get the international finishes?
Originally the website showed all finishes with a few that said they were only available in US/CAN. But we'll see.

What a beauty! I just fell in love with white Ray4) And the necks...! Look at that! They`re narrow, like in 70`s special option of arigiean classic stingray! And price... 300 bucks... I`ll buy it just when it arrives in my country!!! Some good news to all MM `Ray fans!

A satin neck, 2 band preamp and walnut finish! I'm in. Slap a tortise shell pickguard on the walnut Ray and replace the bridge with a real MM bridge and she's a winner.
If these things hit the street at anything under $400 I'm buying.
In fact if they get any cheaper than that used, I'd consider modding with a MM single coil at the neck and a 5 way switch like the Stingray HS.
