Hi, all. Got a question about my 2 Rays.

I got the Ray35QM first, new in November of 2018...LOVED the sound out of it.

Until I found a used Ray34 this year from 2010, with a MUCH more aggressive tone and stronger output. I still love the feel of the 35, but not so much the sound. I've changed/swapped batteries to be sure the 35 battery wasn't weak, so that isn't the issue.

So, my question is, before I start disassembling to check connections or take it to a luthier...is the new 35 just not as "hot" as the old 34? If so, I'll do a preamp/pickup swap. Just wondering if anyone knows about a vast difference between the electronics of old Rays & newer ones before I go down that road.

I had one of the very first Ray 34s and it was my understanding then that they used exactly the same Electronics, pickups and Hardware that the American versions did except that they were set up in the United States.

That was around 2011 so I have a feeling that you're probably right about the way you feel.

Maybe I'll have to start looking at replacements, then. Thanks for the reply.

    Anyone else out there?
