You're obviously oblivious regarding this guy because you clearly have no understanding of who you're referring to, their views and values about music and the industry, to an extent of that makes your comment a bit ironic.

steely is literally better than the combined efforts of every band he has produced
I love how so many people are taking personal offense to comments made by a guy they’ve probably never met, about a band that’s full of guys they’ve probably never met. 
In North American terms, that's pretty much what "punk" is.
Maybe you're joking or you have incredibly crap taste, which you're completely entitled to.

I don't know why the Steely Dan fans are getting so upset (I'm not a follower of either artist in this debate); it's just somebody having a view. If you put any assortment of producers in a room they'll argue about how to make a record. You can't be a producer without opinions.
I like Albini's music, engineering, AND Steely Dan. I must concede I don't disagree with this..I just don't think there's anything wrong with that! Sometimes I'm in that kind of listening mood okay...

Maybe it’ll calm everyone down here to learn he’s produced records for Robert Plant/Jimmy Page and Cheap Trick.
I meet Steely Dan, their fans, and Steve Albini in the middle this way: I care about Steely Dan enough to never say anything about them, unprompted.
just read the entire list, with the exception of John Spencer and Paige/Plant, wait nope i see he did an umphreys album which cancels any good he did with John Spencer and Paige/Plant. so im going to stick by my statement.
I hate Steely Dan for writing "Rikki Don't Lose That Number".
It's a middling song as it is, and not worthy of hate exactly, but in the mid 90's I worked at a large supermarket chain's warehouse doing 10 hour graveyard shifts loading pallets and pallets of Deli Section store orders. (Boxes of pickle jars get really heavy...)
The job itself was bad enough, but it was made 1000% worse by the fact that some local oldies station was piped into the warehouse and you could almost set your clock by the songs that they would invariably play.
When f*%$ing "Rikki" came on that was the worst of them all, and it came on exactly 3 times a night.
The way that stupid song trails off with "Rikki don't lose that number, Rikki don't lose that number x 30" still haunts my nightmares.

I don't think even Steve Albini could argue with that
...though one might conclude that sentence with "for better or worse."
It's not my fault Umphree's Mc'crap ruined an entire generation of guitar players by letting them think its cool good songwriting to put an inappropriate out of place heavy metal breakdown in the middle of songs for no reason.....
I always am sad to see this kind of thing. Why does this guy have a need to pan a style he neither plays nor appreciates? There are artists and styles I neither listen to nor like in the slightest, but why stoop to insulting them? Who or what does this help?
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I have never been a friend of advertising it to the point of insulting another human. It says worlds about the type of person who does it, and none of it good.
