There ARE, in fact, many idiots in the world. Do not let them confuse you with their idiocy. It is usually best to stay away from them unless they are family or someone you care about deeply. That's not elitism, that's just personal safety.

I have groove which fits perfectly to what he wants with a bassist. And our friend is a little bit similar but far better than the phenomenon you described. LOL. He wanted me to be the permanent bassist and replace our friend. LOL. I do have an upcoming bass guitar (will arrive next week) and is canvassing for amps and pedals to use. I should be good to go by next month. The guitarist is the BL of the band I am referring to. He does not know how to confront his current bassist and I to am worried since the current bassist is also our close friend and had been using his bass guitar most of the time. LOL.

Leave.

Keep practicing and become a better bassist. Eventually, "friends", like the ones you're describing, will disappear from your life. They will be replaced by better musicians, and better friends.

Trust me. That's how it works.

I'd have the talk as well, but not with much expectation, and be prepared to walk immediately if not 100% satisfied with the result. That largely means no 2nd bass player. Even then, I'd be a bit skeptical. Good luck. Let us know how things shake out.

Also, the guitarist made the craziest statement last time we jammed about a week ago and it was huge thread on TB and I immediately thought of talkbass when he said it. He said "yeah man I can't jam unless I'm stoned." Come on now.

If you're implying they are buzz buds (and you're not) then you are totally wasting time there. There are people who don't get high ever, there are people who get high and play, there are people who get high but never get high and play(me). It's ok to be any of the groups and avoid the others.
