Stickers.

Not sure if this is the best method or what it would do to the finish, but if I needed to remove a sticker from a guitar, I would dip a cloth in straight acetone and dab the sticker till it was soaked. Then it should slide off. Even if I had to refinish it, sanding would be minimal, without any nicks or gouges.

Ultimately, I'm pro-stickers. For me, it's gotta be the right sticker on the right bass. I've seen some stickered basses that I have been entirely envious of, and some that just look awful. On both classic styles and hippie sandwich styles. It's all about the execution.

I feel somewhat similarly about tattoos. I like tattoos. I appreciate them as the art they CAN be, and a very ancient art form as well. I have a few tattoos of my own. I drew all but one of them myself and none of them show if I'm wearing a short sleeve shirt and pants.

If I had the $, inclination, and didn't have to worry about appearances (job-related mostly) I wouldn't mind having sleeves.

I see many tattoos on many people that I think look nice, are artistic and have some class. Even if I don't like the design or subject matter, sometimes I can appreciate that they are well executed.

But shoo-whee boy howdy shucks, I sure also see a great many tattoos that strike me as either trashy, stupid, poorly done or just...blech. I actually saw a guy with a Nike "swoosh" tattooed on his neck. And that's not nearly the worst thing I've seen. I hope that joker at least got some endorsement payments from Nike. Probably not.

I like stickers when they are used tastefully. Gotta match the color scheme, and no more than one. For example, I put this Seattle Skyline decal on my Blacktop P Bass, think it fits it pretty well!

My cases, on the other hand...I've had some with more stickers than you can count, but I do that more not for looks but because my cases are instantly recognizable that way. Back when I was gigging a lot on a bill with multiple other bands it was nice to just see at a glance that my stuff was still where I left it (which, of course, didn't prevent anyone from taking the instrument and leaving the case. This never happened to me though.)

Exactly my sentiments. I sticker up my cases whenever I can. I have an old wooden Ibanez case that is losing tolex fast, so I started plopping stickers on it and it has just become habit to place cool stickers on there now. I want my bass to be as comfortable as possible for me, the stickers just get in the way for me. I walk up with my bass case and can express myself without having to devalue my instrument.

Meh, all about execution. I've got a beat old guitar that a guy literally burned 1986 into the back. That is sort of my maximum allowed. I dunno I always thought itd be fun to have my beater bass get stickered up. My skateboard-pedalboard has stickers all over it

I like the look of most wood grain so I have sought out natural finish basses. You really can't pull that off on a natural finish bass.I mean you can but personally I think it would look terrible.Even on solid color basses I think its a bit hammy unless you are in a punk rock band

What puzzles me is 1) why did you have to use an entire bottle of Ronsonol and 2) why couldn't the Ronsonol alone do it?

Were those stickers applied with CA glue?!
yeah seriously.I've had a few basses that someone put stickers on and it only takes a few minutes with some adhesive remover (i use goo-gone $2 at wally world)They must have screwed those stickers on

Pesky sticker bolts.

By the way, DONT USE GOO GONE!!!!

Seriously, my tech told me it can be particularly harsh on certain finishes and/or react badly. Apparently naphtha (i.e. Ronsonol) is the gentlest solvent you can use.

Before the admonishment from my tech I used it and frankly it didn't work as well as Rosonal.

Not intending to seem dogmatic, by the way. Just sharing my experience.

By the way, now thinking back to one sticker that was pretty well impossible to get off.

Pesky sticker bolts....
