Sticky fingers

99% isopropyl alcohol, and you know, maybe wash your hands before you play. I'm a heavy pot smoker myself, but there's no way i'm gunking up my bass with resin and dirty weed fingers. Reminds me of those gross kids that eat fist-fulls of cheetos and then much up their gaming controllers. Yucky.
I have often wiped down a "new to me" bass with isopropyl alcohol to get the previous owner's gunk off it. Never had a problem.Keep isopropyl alcohol away from the finish. I would remove the strings before using it.
When you change strings, boil them, then drink the water. Then throw the old strings away and replace with THC Bass Boomers.

I'm a fan, personally, of Simple Green.
The color & non-toxic traits notwithstanding and just happening to be pleasant characteristics, it's great for getting rather tough-to-scrub resin deposits off the fingers when you need to have them pristine for ye olde thumpin'. And it doesn't seem to do anything to modern poly finishes besides clean them sparkly, though I haven't risked it on nitro.
If by Goof Off you mean Goo Gone, ehhh... far from non-toxic mon! Maybe boil your strings in a pot with the alcohol mentioned by several, but afterwards, do preventative maintenance and get your fingers ready after you've had the heavenly spinach session.

Cannabis resin on your strings is a sure sign you have a drug problem.
Purchase an old iron bathtub on Dumbtree or the like. Make sure it's big enough to hold your Bass. Put a pile of leaves and branches under said bathtub. Fill tub with water. Place Bass in said tub and then light the leaves with your matches. Once the water has boiled off, so will have the gunk and cannabis oil. (Could take a day or two, so keep the fire going.) By the time the bath has boiled dry, the Bass should be dry too.
