Stingray 5 30th Anniversary

This is the bass that brought me back to musicman. I saw it in a catalogue and just loved it. I didn't even necessarily want the 5 string but just seeing how sick that neck was got me buying a 4 string stingray classic soon after. The maple roasted necks are so nice. I love playing mine. I'm sure you guys will love your 30th anniversary. The quality of mm basses is incredibly good for the price. Just another level.

I like both. I would probably be inclined towards the rosewood but the roasted maple is so cool too. Tough call.
I originally ordered Rosewood but am such a sucker for roasted Maple necks and this combo simply looked to good to pass up. I'm debating on ordering a second one though with the Rosewood fretboard.

I'm almost certain I see one of these in my future :bassist:

Annnnnnd, ordered. Initially, I was kicking myself for missing out on one of these when they were first in stock everywhere, but I found an 8 lb. 12 oz. specimen (maple board, not rosewood) in stock at Sam Ash. I had been holding off looking for one with birdseye, but decided to pull the trigger on this one that features flamed roasted maple as you just don't normally seem to find Stingray 5 basses anywhere near the sub 9 lb. range (I know they're out there, but not the norm).

Unfortunately, there's a problem with my bass. It didn't present immediately, but on Saturday I found that the bass had a lot of static when the toggle was set to series or filter. Then the static faded and went to low, almost no output. The parallel setting seemed unaffected, I think. My brain thinks it became a little noisy, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I tried different batteries with no luck. I inspected the wiring to the toggle, circuit board, output jack, and battery and did not find anything that looked odd or not connected.

Picking the bass back up yesterday to play a little and the problem was gone, but quickly returned. Only series and filter are not working, parallel is ok. Same thing again today.

I have emailed EBMM customer service. I'm not an electronics whiz by any means, so if anyone has any ideas (I also posted in the Stingray Club thread, but no suggestions as of yet), I'm open to suggestions.

Seems simple and silly, but have you tried a new battery?
