Stingray 5 30th Anniversary

I'm going to let EBMM respond and see what they can do as I trust they'll take care of business. I really like the bass and am doubtful I'd find another one nearly as light. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of an SR5 at under 9 lbs.

Edit 05/30/17: I'll be sending the bass to EBMM for repair.

Glad to hear. They'll make good on it.

Unless someone has it for sale in the classifieds here, you could go to Sweetwater's website and place an order/buy one from them there and have it shipped to you, if you're willing to pay for shipping. I believe Sweetwater's free shipping is only for the US, so you should talk to them. There's also Samash, Guitar Center, Zzounds, and a couple other places, all of which should have international shipping

THANK you!!!!!! what this site has ads?I don't understand English I write through the translator,it is difficult to understand how to use the site. But anyway thanks for wasting your time on me.Going to try to deal with the site.Generally you are lucky, these tools make in your country and you can choose. But I think that this is a tool that advertises itself Tony Levin to be bad just can't.Thanks again.

Hey guys! Does anyone have news/experience on the upcoming Stingray 5 30th Anniversary? I've been really wanted to see how it demos because apparently it's got ceramic pickups and a differently voiced preamp...

Definitely a wish list for me.

Unfortunately, there's a problem with my bass. It didn't present immediately, but on Saturday I found that the bass had a lot of static when the toggle was set to series or filter. Then the static faded and went to low, almost no output. The parallel setting seemed unaffected, I think. My brain thinks it became a little noisy, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I tried different batteries with no luck. I inspected the wiring to the toggle, circuit board, output jack, and battery and did not find anything that looked odd or not connected.

Picking the bass back up yesterday to play a little and the problem was gone, but quickly returned. Only series and filter are not working, parallel is ok. Same thing again today.

I have emailed EBMM customer service. I'm not an electronics whiz by any means, so if anyone has any ideas (I also posted in the Stingray Club thread, but no suggestions as of yet), I'm open to suggestions.

What happened to your bass by the way? Hope everything is/was sorted out!

Same here!! I mailed EBMM support.. just waiting for a response.

Took a bit longer than anticipated, but my bass was shipped back out to me yesterday and should arrive this coming Wednesday. They replaced the pickup. FuZz, did you experience a problem with your bass, too?

Yea I have the same problem! But in all the positions. Im in argentina so I believe ai will have to try a self made solution. Dis u sent an email to customer service by the main web page? I have not received any answer yet. Pretty rare.

Oh no! I sent an email through the EBMM website that weekend, but called the Monday after where someone immediately answered the phone and got everything situated for me to ship the bass back (they only cover shipping one way, by the way). So, I'd recommend calling Monday for the fastest response.

I received the bass back this morning. Took it home and plugged it in...no sound. Ugh! Tried a couple of cables and two different amps, same result. Checked the battery box and found the culprit. The little flap or door that folds back to access the battery was almost broke causing it to not put the proper pressure on the battery so there was sufficient contact when it was closed. Doh! Contacted EBMM and they're sending out a new battery box. I was disappointed that this wasn't caught before it shipped out to me, but they've been great when I contacted them. Things happen, I get it, no worries as long as they take care of me, which they have.

Meanwhile, a piece of gaffers tape is keeping the battery snug and the previous issue regarding low/no output was solved by replacing the pickup.

So the original problem was a low output or a ground loop noise?

Yep. In the series or filter settings only (neck and middle toggle positions), parallel (bridge toggle position) was fine. It would play fine for a bit and then start sounding almost like a dead battery - fading, fuzzy output - but the battery and battery box at that time were both fine. I had checked wiring connections and all looked ok. When I called them, they originally guessed it would be the pickup.
