I wasn't really that freaked out about the outcome, also i doubt whether OLP basses have the same finish process that an actual MusicMan has. Different company, different plant, different continent! I actually posted a question on the EB stingray forum about this process before i started. And i got comments like "if you have to ask questions like this, you should probably have a pro do it" etc.... I also asked on that thread "what's the worst that could happen?" and a guy replied "well, you could warp the body with all that heat and the body could split in two if it's a two peice body if you get it hot enough at the glue joint.." It didn't warp and it didn't split in half ( it is a 2 piece body). After all - it's not like it's a '62 jazz or P - it's an $850 music man... i just really wanted a natural finish Stingray and this was the only inexpensive way to get it. Well worth the risk for the learning experience and ultimately the great outcome.I admire your ingenuity, but I would have tried the finish removal on an OLP first.
