Stolen Benavente SCD5 - Atlanta

Thanks a bunch guys, I'm definitely keeping positive.

I'm about to leave (early) for an out of town gig in Charleston, so I'll be offline till Sunday evening... if someone needs to contact me inbetween now and then, follow this link for contact info:

So sorry to hear this, jraj. I just forwarded a link to this thread to my buds in ATL. Best of luck to you, and stay postive.

Greg

Is there a reward fund? Should we take up a collection? I've felt this pain before, and I'd chip in.

still talking to USAA, they are helpful and hopeful, can't say enough great things about them...

I'm offering $500 to anyone with info that leads to the recovery.

Here you go.

Best of luck with that, I really can sympathise with you. I hope the person who stole it gets a proper kicking when he tries to unload it on to somebody who knows straight away how the guy got hold of it and decides he doesn't like thieves.

Roger that! However, I have another concern. What if this cretin realizes what he has and determines that the bass can not be sold, traded, advertised, or even displayed without threat of being caught? My biggest fear is that he would closet the thing for the rest of his natural life (about 2 months IME!) or, even worse, destroy or dump it to rid himself of the evidence. Might want to consider setting up a dragnet with the mantra "Stolen Bass: Please return...no questions asked". I can't begin to say whether or not this might work but I would rather have the bass back in one piece even if it means the thief walks away scot-free.

BTW, "no questions asked" doesn't mean you can't kick the s*** out of somebody.

J --- I will add $500 to your reward fund so you now can say $1000 to anyone with info that leads to its safe recovery !!! :bassist:

That is horrible, Jai.

I hit just about every pawn shop and music store from Dalton to Atlanta every few weeks, so there's a good chance I'll run into somebody that has at least seen it, assuming the thief tries to move it.

Make sure to alert the police in places like Birmingham, Nashville, and Charlotte, too, to make sure the instrument goes into each of their stolen goods databases for the pawn shops.

I have contacted all retailers that are registered with NAMM in the southeast... plenty of them are past customers of mine or prospects that I was working on.
I posted an ad for you in backpage.com (Atlanta)
