I've got small hands. I can get by on a fat neck just fine, but I'll always prefer thin 4 string necks. My Ric is pretty skinny, and the EGC will be super skinny.

Yeah I've got smaller hands too but mine don't like fat necks so much I mean I can still play but I always feel like I'm fighting the neck/bass.
I remember when I was first starting out I was into funky slap stuff and I was dead set on getting an EBMM Stingray. Went to the store to plunk around on one.
Played it for like a minute and I was like "Nope". Chunkiest neck I've ever played. It literally felt like a baseball bat neck in my hands.
I'm with the both of you. I like big thinks in my hands.
. In all seriousness, I like how the strings are relatively uniform up and down the neck. Jazz bass necks just feel awkward. Finals are done. Commence drinking of cider. Rivers of Irish champagne.
IRL - not sure what's worse right now, the football on the tv or the first date late 20s ya-yas one stool down from me.
I will contribute to the Dropbox if you want. Guitarist is ordering a fuzz -musket I think it's called. Will have to abscond for bass tests.
The neck the felt the bast to me was an old Warwick with no finish. The bass itself sounded like farts underwater.
Biggest neck ive ever played was a Wzarwick Bolt-on Thumb, sounded like a Thumb, that growl was awesome

If its the blackout effectors Musket fuzz it's a pretty awesome fuzz. I have one as part of my custom Twosome. It's a muff based fuzz plus mid control, pre gain, and a control that tightens up the low end. A lot of cool tones, actually since I got my first twosome the only fuzz I've wanted was a second twosome haha.
Yeah I figured I would start with some essentials then maybe do stuff like a drone one, psyche one, etc. I started thinking about it a couple of threads back when I found out so many people haven't listened to some great Pink Floyd stuff. That kind of shocked me a little, but I guess I'm just one of the old guys
Everyone must watch Live at Pompeii at least once in their lives. I'm not the biggest Floyd fan in the world, but that movie is ****ing amazing.

My poor Ibby P never gets shown off enough, because its the only bass I keep in standard tuning. That pretty much keeps it delegated to bass lessons, theory practice, and noodling around under the influence in my living room.

Oh also, here's a new Supervoid track we've been working on. This was recorded after I did a lot of EQ tweaking with my amp and pedals. Really happy with where my tone is now. Feels and sounds a lot fatter and thicker, yet still nice and gnarly and cuts through the mix well. Think I managed to cut out some of that high mid "honk" that I was trying to get rid of. Ignore the mistakes, this is a work in progress Our inner metalheads emerge at the end of this song...

Funny you say that lol. Whenever I go to a music store, EBMMs are the only basses that I simply just cannot play. I think they look and sound great, but I feel like I'm gripping a tree trunk when I'm trying to play it. However Toastfuzz recently picked up one of the foreign made Stingrays (Sterling? I forget) and the 5 string neck on it feels fantastic! Maybe I've just gotten a lot more comfortable playing bass since the last time I picked up a Stingray...

digging the new tune and yeah your tone is still plenty gnarly. I dig it. Is that with the el oso? or is that just the terror bass?

Most of that song is with the Bluebeard, El Oso, and the Terror Bass gain around 11:00.
The "chorus" parts towards the beginning of the song, I kick off the El Oso to give some more space for guitar runs and more focus on vocals. Vocals don't record well in that room so you can't hear them well. Actually nothing records well in that room lol.

Ron - Yes, it's a blackout musket. I hope he loves it. You had a custom double made for you by them?

Mc - I think the one I played was the intro Warwick with mec passive pickups. It was so dark. It probably could have benefited from brighter pickups.

Just got back from practice, gave the small stone nano a whirl. It sounds surprisingly good on bass. Barely any volume drop or low end loss. I need to find some places to use it, but I have ideas.
Also, we're going to be recording sometime in February. We'll be recording at my boss's home studio. He's about my dad's age and way into electronics, tube amps, tape machines and recording/engineering. He offered to do it a while back and now that we're ready I took him up on it. He won't accept any payment for it and seem really genuinely excited to do it. He's got tons of vintage gear, mics and an old Tonelux console. We'll be recording to protools because tape is expensive, but I think it's going to turn out very well.

Kyle at blackout made this wonderful toy for me. It's just their VST modded Twosome (musket & fix'd fuzz circuit) but in a more pedalboard friendly box with this incredible paint job.
But yeah, musket super gnarly and versatile muff, and the fix'd is a vintage raspy kind of fuzz, sputtery Velcro like fuzz, and a boost plus a ton of other things. Then you can use both, stack them, and flip the order of how they work. Fuzz tones for days.
