I didn't get the Yob tone in a box thing either. When I saw them last Mike used a lovetone provalve 2 into a pigtronix philosophers tone. "Never one without the other"

His big chords sounded like 2 guitarist and he'd hit these complex chords that every note would come through like a knife...in a good way. Best doom band I've ever seen.

his main pedal chain for most of the albums was compressor + dirt pedal. Pre-2006 it was a Dyna Comp into a Ross Dist, then after that a Dyna Comp into a Surh Riot, and then later a Whirlwind Comp into a Subdecay FBomb. Of Course it continues to changes. Amps were also NMV amps like Matamps and Marshals without much or any amp gain. Setup to take pedals

guitarist usually dont use compressors properly like one would in a studio. Usually they squash the **** out of the signal then boost it up even more.

Ah so it's just normal 4 string tuning plus the two missing strings guitars have? EADGBe?

I think I've heard them referred to as piccolo basses so I thought they were tuned higher than a standard bass.
