I guess for me it's sort of like it's fine for my guitarist (the one in 5th Child) and I to make fun of doom, because we play it, but it's irritating when other people do it.

Even though I'm not into the corpse paint and satan stuff, black metal's the same for me. I'll make fun of Immortal all day, but it's annoying if people who don't actually appreciate the music do it.

I guess that makes me a bit of a hypocrite.

just watched the whole thing! that was ****ing awesome. church of misery meets electric wizard meets hot singerbabe. and a drummer who looks like he moonlights as a hitman.

it makes me wish bass wah sounded good with my rig.. what do you use?

I think a huge part of this forum I enjoy is the comedy, lots of funny people on here, so mocking something playfully is fun for me. I love tons of music that people would probably hate on here, wasn't taking a piss on anyone, just having some fun. When someone uses my quote and says screw you well this old Grumpy yankee is coming in both barrels of course but I didn't draw first blood. But no grudges held, peace brothers. And I like that term try-to-hards much better than poser. If something is silly I am going to laugh and make jokes. I think the retro clothing and hair styles is bit overdone and trifling in doom genre, look at the cover of Kadavar's album. And as much as I love MMJ I hate when Jim James throws on the robe, like what is that I would bust balls on genres I like if they pull a try-to-hard.

haha na it makes sense. its just black metal and doom grate on a lot of people so theyre going to mock it, and thats ok. plus its easy to make fun of. take it and move on.

and then listen to Dark Fortress.

musicianship is irrelevant. writing songs and being a refined technical musician have no correlation to each other. Kurt Cobain couldnt play guitar for ****, however he could write amazing songs. Dream Theatre could play circles around most, yet they still havent written a good song lol.

personally i wouldnt even compare the two, sabbath is much darker than zeppelin, and while both are two of my favorite groups, i enjoy them equally. only morons are going to say "OH MAN LIKE JOHN PAUL JONES RIPS AND GEEZER DOESNT SO ZEPPELIN IS BETTER!".
