Even though I don't like the music at all, I really only poke fun at the make up and all the theatrical goofiness.
I think every genre has it's share of try-hards, no reason to hate on a whole genre because of it.
Elitism is what has kept me from enjoying punk rock the last few years. I'm not letting stoner rock go that way if I can help it. I'll always fight for brotherhood and unity. It's in my blood.
Let's all be buddies again. Because I know some of you guys will hate some of the music I own. It's cool. Doom has united us. Stand together!
One thing I like about this scene is the utter lack of pretentiousness. No uniforms, no "look", just guys who enjoy a type of music.

I have nothing against the music at all, even though its not my thing. What I cant take serious is the I play evil metal so I have to paint my face to look eviliererer. If doomers all thought they had to wear wizard robes to play or listen to doom it would be just as silly and kinda rad. Or maybe if stoner rock guys all had beards....oh wait...nevermind. 
All i know is if I did wear skurry make up I would be so damn evil it would never bother me what kind of cuddly face eating bear I was compared to.

This is pretty cool. This is folk. Or what I consider real folk, or close to it at least.
When ever someone says folk, I think sweet a bunch of crazy ass instruments and songs that make me think of running through the country side on tops of mountains like in Braveheart.
Not some non singing wiener, going on about depressing first world problems, with an acoustic guitar.

Duke, that list is probably the best "top 25 list" I've ever read. Most every player on that list I completely respect and dig the style of. Plus Annie Clark is my favorite musician making music today, so anyone giving her respect is good in my book.
Secondly, the only time I dressed up or wore makeup (actually both) for a show is when we covered Weezer for a Halloween show and I dressed up at Cvlt Rivers in full black panda/black metal face paint and a cardigan with khakis.
Actually that was one of the most fun shows I've ever had the pleasure of playing, it's on Vimeo for those of you whom would be interested in seeing us do straight (drunk) Weezer covers.

Well, these days I do think of the latter as well, but I still mostly associate "folk" with stuff like Invalid Link Removed and Julie Fowlis.
Sartori i enjoy quite a bit of black metal, and even most black metal fans enjoy poking fun at some of the stupidity of the genre. How can you not? Its one of the easiest genres in metal to mock. I cant go a week without seeing a Varg joke in my facebook newsfeed lol. That doesnt mean i dont enjoy me some old mayhem from time to time. When one band is soley responsible for a successful suicide, the eating of a band members body parts, and burning down a church or two, the jokes are endless lol.
