The 800RB was one of the best amps for the money I ever had. It just had twice as many knobs as I ever needed and a bunch of bi-amp features I never used. The LMII replaced it for a while, but there was a certain kind of squished mid scoop sound I could never seem to dial out of it. So that left and the 800RB stayed, I just sold it when I figured I could probably find something just as good, but louder and lighter. If GK made an amp that was a 500W version of the 800RB, without all the extraneous bi-amp stuff, I would have it. Even at the same weight/size.

not trying to beat a dead horse, but you should really try the Oh See Demon as an always on pedal with the gain set around 10 or 11 o'clock that's exactly what it sounds like and I bet it would kill with the Traynor.
Don't worry, the horse is still kicking. I'm on a bit of a pedal buying spree (2 in 2 months is a spree for me), so if I like the Rat Tail I may try the Oh See Demon out.
And you said the LMII sounded too scooped? Of those, I'd go Mesa if that's your short list. Second, Streamliner, then MB/Fusion.
Bass cabs shouldn't have horns/ tweeters either.

Rat Tail sounds pretty good. I don't know that it nails the sound I was getting with my RAT + clean blend, but it sounds good. The high and low clipping functions seem really interactive with the filter and drive. My snap impression is that there isn't much actual low end maintained in the standard mode, but when you go into the no diodes it really opens up the low end and gets a big volume boost. I'll have to wait until I have more time and ability to crank the volume up to confirm that. I could only fiddle around with it for 5-10 minutes and not at full volume.
That's about how I have them ranked right now. Although the GK is floating around, just because I could probably get one for a lot less money used than anything else.
Not sure if it would be a weight saver or not, but how about a Hartke LH500 or 1000? Very simple controls, lots of horsepower, preamp tube.
It hadn't occurred to me. I have to plead ignorance, since I've never owned or played any Hartke gear. Seems like it would probably be at the top of the spectrum for weight and size, but probably pretty close to the M9. I feel like I'm missing something when I look at the front panel. Is there a pre-gain control or is it just EQ and volume?
